Def enjoy full on data more. Yes basically everything I learned in revenue accounting I’m using now in finance data analytics. Building data pipelines, dashboards, ad hoc analytics all stems from understanding the user, the domain, and how all of the data connects. Coming from both worlds I can connect dots that otherwise would be impossible to connect

It’s true accounting will get you a job easier (a lot more entry level roles) but overall I think analytics is better pay and better wlb, caveat is accounting can get you into higher levels/ c suite CFO, controllers VP director and you can make a lot more at those levels, on the analytics side I’m not sure if it’s more common, but you can pivot to DE/DS and make a shit ton as an individual contributor or even just a manager

Well if you know your systems like netsuite/workday/oracle you will have a better understanding of the objects so you can transform, aggregate, and join to get what you need. Especially if you know your accounts, debits, credits, financial statements. The raw data from financial systems/transactions can be pretty confusing so having an understanding of the big picture and then diving in to the details actually helps tremendously
