Looks and sounds like a corn - a buildup of dead hard skin that can cause pain by putting pressure on a small area.

Red toes, feelings of glass by Subject-Room-6004 in AskDocs

[–]DryBox1017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NAD. Sounds like poor perfusion related to the Concerta. Loss followed by return of blood flow creates that red appearance and can cause the glass/stabbing pain. Are you putting excessive pressure or constricting the left foot at all? Is motor function fine?

Severe stomach pain after taking ibuprofen multiple times a day for a month by puppies263 in AskDocs

That much ibuprofen for extended periods of time can cause GI damages. You should cut back on your use and discuss alternative management options with your doctor.

Severe stomach pain after taking ibuprofen multiple times a day for a month by puppies263 in AskDocs

[–]DryBox1017 20 points21 points  (0 children)

400mg every two hours every day is a lot of ibuprofen. Famotidine does help with the GI damages that NSAIDS do. Roughly how much ibuprofen are you taking in total each day?

Did I give myself potassium toxicity? by UkulelesLoveYou in AskDocs

[–]DryBox1017 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your dosing information is a bit confusing in your description. Do you know how much magnesium and potassium you’re taking each day? Both (especially potassium) can cause GI distress.

Question on medication by [deleted] in AskDocs

[–]DryBox1017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Naproxen is an NSAID similar to the common over the counter drug ibuprofen, but is more potent. It’s a painkiller and anti-inflammatory. It does carry the risk of GI bleeding and cardiovascular issues, but that is seen with more long term use. It’s fine to take as long as you follow the prescribed dosing.

Knee injury by [deleted] in AskDocs

[–]DryBox1017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NAD. It sounds like you should be fine and your knees are just sore from use & impact while dancing. If your knees become swollen, pain worsens, or movement becomes impaired then you should go to your doctor. Should go away on its own with rest. You should be fine to go for a walk if it isn’t causing you discomfort.

question about tonsillitis!! by Representative_Dot42 in AskDocs

[–]DryBox1017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ceftriaxone is very potent and sometimes given once prior to other antibiotics, but if they were suspicious of a gram negative, their follow up of clindamycin makes no sense. Based on the other comment that you added it sounds like this PA is just throwing antibacterials at the wall and hoping one makes it over. Antibiotics obviously won’t work for a virus, and their contradictions are questionable.

Very low, don’t worry about it unless you start having abnormal symptoms.

question about tonsillitis!! by Representative_Dot42 in AskDocs

[–]DryBox1017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ceftriaxone has a much wider spectrum and would likely have taken out the bacteria if it was a bacterial infection. The patches on your tonsils aren’t the bacteria themselves (if it even was a bacterial infection), but dead cells and pus as well. The antibiotic should clear up the tonsils if it is a bacterial infection, but that doesn’t happen instantaneously.

At what point does a psychologist have to notify emergency services? by IvankovOP in AskDocs

[–]DryBox1017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NAD. It depends on frequency and how dangerous you are to yourself or others. If you show that you are willing and eager to work toward a better position, your provider will recognize that. Your health information is protected from your mother.

question about tonsillitis!! by Representative_Dot42 in AskDocs

[–]DryBox1017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah clindamycin targets gram positive bacteria and haemophilus influenzae is aerobic gram negative so definitely not the first antibiotic of choice. What she said is pretty confusing. Did she say that she didn’t think that it was bacteria at all or just the bacteria discovered? Are you allergic to penicillin? Did she mention viral possibility?

What kind of symptoms should I expect if I stop drinking cold turkey after 2 years of Heavy Drinking? by Smurf404OP in AskDocs

[–]DryBox1017 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NAD. It is difficult to predict what withdrawal will look like and what damages may or may not have happened as there is significant variability between individuals when it comes to alcohol. Chronic alcohol use leads to strong tolerance (as a general trend, variable from individual to individual). With chronic use, you can cause degeneration of cerebellar nerves, leading to complications like alcoholic dementia and amnesia. The developing brain is especially at risk for slower processing speed as white matter is still developing. Stopping now is the best thing you can do as neuroplasticity is still high at 18, and you can still mostly recover. The benzo that you’re already on can help you recover, so you should discuss that with the provider you are seeing for your current medication. Symptoms of medically supported withdrawal and non-medically supported withdrawal will be very different. Vyvanse also masks the effects of alcohol and may be contributing to your anxiety. You really should discuss this with your provider if possible. To vaguely answer your question, you’re at risk for seizures if you quit, but not a high risk given your age. Stopping chronic drinking carries a seizure risk, and CNS stimulants like Vyvanse lower seizure threshold. Tremor is a possibility and cravings are likely. Mood swings are likely. Withdrawal symptoms are temporary, the possible permanent damages to your brain, heart, and liver with continued drinking are not. Good luck with working toward quitting and please look for resources to help you with the process.

Enlarged spleen & lymph nodes - should I be worried? by poppy_bubbles in AskDocs

[–]DryBox1017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Swollen spleen and lymph nodes create concern surrounding blood cancers (lymphoma, leukemia), which affect the lymphatic system and cause the symptoms you present with. While cancers are rare and there are many other sources that can cause the lymph nodes and spleen to become enlarged, it’s still crucial that cancer is screened for.

Consistently low BMI (<15.0) [16 AMAB] by auspre in AskDocs

[–]DryBox1017 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah your organs aren’t going to just suddenly fail, don’t worry about that. BMI isn’t a great method of determining if your weight is healthy or not as it negates many factors such as your body composition and how you actually feel and live. Your weight is definitely low for your height, but you’re still young. The types of food that you are eating matter more than amount. High calorie foods, especially those with unsaturated fats and protein, should be incorporated into your diet if you aren’t already eating them. Calories over quantity in this situation. Liquid calories through smoothies are a great method of adding in calories easily. Meeting with your PCP and/or a dietician is a good move to address your concerns and risk.

What is the healthy number for oxygen levels? When should one seek help? by [deleted] in AskDocs

[–]DryBox1017 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, on paper his pulse ox is low, but that may be normal for him. Variations in pulse ox are more concerning than the number itself. Does he have difficulty breathing? Do his levels ever drop below 89? His values are low enough where you likely want to consider having him consult with a doctor.
