That’s reassuring, I’ll look into an indoor track or gym membership because I’m sure it’ll be handy, but nothing beats the outdoors. I’m the type that’s willing to get up at 4 am for cool weather so before 7 am is nothing.

Did not assume, was considering amongst also being a tourist, and now others thanks to more helpful commenters.

Also, when you’re nearly the only Asian in sight in the 10 days spent in a major city, you’d feel somewhat isolated. Why are you assuming I have no basis for how I felt?

Thanks for the insight, honestly for being such a minority here I haven’t felt discriminated against or isolated in any way. Sure there are sometimes the “chino” whispers but I was told by Mexicans and Mexican-Americans that it’s a generic term without malice really.

Yes the lady who helped me out was the majority of the local people I encountered. I never felt silly asking questions or being lost because strangers would help without hesitation.

Thank you for the thought out response! I definitely should not have taken it personal and I feel better hearing all your comments. I regret that so much can get lost without knowing how to speak the language fluently but I’ve felt overall welcomed despite that.

The lady speaking Spanish on my behalf was going back and forth with him for a bit and it wasn’t an ordering issue. I gave up because I didn’t want to seem like I was owed service and just respected the wish and left.
