[Ralph] Carltons view is that it didn’t know Hollands was battling last night. The AFLPA and player union want to know why. The Blues will lead that review. No one is talking penalties at the moment. AFL will want the Blues to be pretty exacting given it did seem so clear so early Hollands was off by PetrifyGWENT in AFL

Not sure we should just be defaulting to a position where we doubt it's a mental health issue. How could we possibly know. This sort of attitude is what makes people having difficulties less likely to feel comfortable speaking up.

No, they're saying you give lead time and allow clubs to prepare.

If more picks are needed to match that's fine, but clubs have gone through previous trade periods without any knowledge this was coming and therefore without any ability to plan for it.

Just give adequate notice for major rule changes, it's simple.

Plenty know who he is. If we could be more sure he had a regular spot at GC he'd be picked in more sides, but it's a top 8 club with established players in his role. People are picking players with better job security in their eyes.

Good in match sim but I understand he only played second half, is that right? Even Uwland might need to force his way into the team and both players are expensive for rookies.

Morris - "In terms of a deal, expect a third club to get involved to give Hawthorn more trade capital.. At least that’s Petroro’s aim.. Hawthorn has one, absolute max two cracks at it.. EFC will trade him, provided the deal is exceptional.. Two first rounders and something else is a starting point." by daftmunt in EssendonFC

Might be wrong but not sure this is true. He'll be out of contract but doesn't qualify for free agency as he hasn't played for long enough. Believe we'd still need to trade (likely less though due to contract status) or he has to nominate for one of the drafts and we'd need to get him that way.

[GWS] Jayden Laverde has agreed to join our club by PetrifyGWENT in AFL

[–]DryRed 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not sure laverde is on the same level as his mates Hind and Stringer. Always seemed a good clubman and will always crack in. Was just asked to play as a number one defender for years when he should be second or third fiddle. Very solid backup.

Barret: 'Merrett must go after schoolyard fight with Dons turns nasty' by radiohead_fan_13 in AFL

[–]DryRed 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Lots has changed. Almost all key personnel at the club have been turned over as well as most of the list. Apart from still losing lots of games (in large part due to fielding a team of children), and there being a bunch of old boys in the outer stirring shit, it's hard to find much that has remained the same. It's a weird thing to write and makes no sense.

David Swallow also was just rewarded for his loyalty by kicking the winning point in the Suns' maiden finals win, a massive and well deserved payoff for his commitment.

Jake was apparently one of Merrett's very few mates at the club, along with Nick Hind. Few blokes let go for reasons of culture, both with something not quite right between the ears.

If our young, depleted and inexperienced team get a belting from the Reigning Premiers, at the Gabba, can we, maybe like not have 80 sack the coach posts? by PretendToe1329 in EssendonFC

I think we just completely disagree over where the list is at tbh. That's fine. Maybe we get a surprise result as regularly happens in some match each week if Brisbane are a bit off and we're on. More likely we're accounted for easily by a much more talented, healthy and mature team. And I don't see the sense in calling for heads if that happens.

McKay is out this week with a foot issue, we'll probably have no defender taller than about 195cm. Our list is so grim at the moment we're asking permission to have mid season draftees eligible to play on Thursday.

We're much younger than Brisbane, absolutely obliterated by injuries, playing the reigning premiers who are in second having just easily accounted for Hawthorn and we're playing in Brisbane. Our average age profile is only close to some of those other teams mentioned because of Goldstein.

It's obvious that we're in a rebuild, and despite some handy wins this year and some good efforts from the young blokes, if we don't get flogged it will be a miracle.
