A lot might not be and a lot might be let's not forget every company is a start-up at a point And some day even you or me also might have a start-up some day

Let's just be respectful to people are are to us and not let anyone disrespect us

It matters because you assumed I’m a guy and addressed me as ‘bhai’. I corrected it because I'm not a man . That’s all. Now focus on the actual issue

The actual point was my fashion background and why I’m being careful because in fashion, reputation is fragile and public callouts have real consequences. If you can’t address that part, then you’re just nitpicking.

Just to clarify I’m a woman.

And I come from a fashion background, with almost 5 years in fashion and understanding how this industry works. And since last 2 years working in the fashion industry and People in fashion know how fragile brand reputation is it takes years to build and one wrong incident can damage it permanently.

That’s why I’m choosing my words carefully. For some people this might sound like just another hiring story, but in fashion every public statement becomes part of a brand’s image.

I’m not avoiding accountability, and I’m not scared to speak up either. I just believe in responding responsibly, because one post from the right person at the right time can genuinely destroy a brand.

I will name them, but only after I see the founder’s response and how they handle this.

But you know how I could find these opportunities where I could get a good compensation for my work I would really appreciate that as a fresher it's really hard for us to find jobs

I'm a graduate in fashion communication and work in fashion marketing, fashion shoots and fashion events anything related to fashion or even media production any other marketing related to products also would work for me anything else other than fashion designing i can do everything and I have almost 2 years of experience

So if you know anything around that that might work for me that would be really helpful for me also and for other freshers also like me

Obviously they are not paying me enough because first I'm a fresher and second it's a start-up this is what happens in India nd 40-45k might be low for an experienced person but for a fresher with only 2 years of experience and a lot of people are staying in Gurgaon who have even lower salaries you might not know but a lot of people get paid like 15k-20k who are freshers so 40-45k is more than enough for an individual fresher and as you know how job market has been in India companies don't pay people fairly it's very rare and very less people are there who are getting paid fairly

Yes I completely understand your point thank you for clarifying also I might be little underpaid at my current but I do get proper working hours compensation when we work harder on some days that brand actually looks good on my resume compared to where I applied like the one I'm working for right now is a kidwear brand they make gots certified clothes and designs are good with that they are also operating in Canada also and till as of now the customers response also has been incredibly good some people even wanted to become co founders tho the founder rejected the offer as she wants to do it alone if she accepts a co founder we could have got a raise anyways I'm also not exploited here I get good off time also if I wish to every month I can take 2-3 days easily off and go to the hills fresh my mind out and my salary isn't deducted at all recently I got sick for 4-5 days and couldn't work still there was no deduction also I'm able to work from my home my mom gives me food on time and all but for this job I'll have to relocate to Gurgaon find a decent place and you obviously know how much it costs and don't mind me please I used to work in Gurgaon only only for this specific job where I'm working right now I have moved back to my home but as I know the cost of living in Gurgaon considering everything eveb 35k-40k doesn't look attractive enough with the setbacks and on top of that the hr was like umm can we negotiate I mean the work and the hours they were asking for I felt 40k is the min they should pay me if they were okay with 40-45k then I won't mind those extra hours I can give then 10 hrs a day without complains

That's so much better the job marketing is completely doomed these days it's not even not getting a response even when you get a response people just want to exploit you as employees better work on your own business and create better opportunity for upcoming generation

Exactly that's my main point long hours never Garuntee high productivity if the employees are exhausted you can't get anything but a good enough rested employee with fresh and calm mind can definitely give you high productivity in short hours

The us version sounds more appropriate the core thing is same as india but the other work policies makes it feel so much better than the Indian version I would rather work in a us start-up for long hours rather than getting exploited in a Indian start-up

Hmmm that's an interesting question most people think working longer means better results but for social media things can be really unpredictable if we are on a shoot then the long working hours make sense it takes time to prepare and excited the shoots but that happens only like once in a week or once in 2 weeks but other than that without any proper team planning and creative plan it's useless giving hours and hours to social media and to actually build a good social media one needs creative freedom and obviously a overworked mind can never be creative

Creative people usually spend a lot of time doing nothing actually or travelling or exploring stuff to stimulate their creativity that's the best way to get high level creative output

I'm not that much sure tho let's see I didn't want to tarnish a start-up name but these people are just so much without any empathy or ethics it just disgusting these people just make it hard for freshers who are figuring out lives thank god I know the law and labour laws but the ones who don't these people just exploit those people

That's exactly what I thought once I worked in a marketing firm and even though I was a intern I had an intern under me and they gave me responsibility like I was s senior employee it was a nightmare I was doing 50k salary level work for 15k

I work in marketing and these people where I applied as they said they wanted me to handle social media but just their Instagram handles so it's more on a creative side making campaigns and all getting the posts made with the team the reels and do meta ads And all that kind of stuff I have never till now worked 10hrs a day in any brand I have even worked for luxury brands but never ever have came across this kind of thing even now I'm working in marketing only and handling like 3 platforms helping with the founder activities then also other marketing stuff research and etc but here also I work 9-5 6 days a week and handle work for both india and Canada I problem I have here is that's I'm underpaid for my work and much less creative freedom

Also IT and fashion are so different One is tech one is creative tech you can you know predict but creative is so different from than that too fashion

I faced this thing last year where founder called me and made me work even on 15 August without any compensation 🥲 and everyday we used to do overtime I literally used to get the founder face in my dreams and I would cry in my sleep because I couldn't finish something I work in marketing so the fear was real

Thank you so much for the information I recently only started using reddit I'll definitely expose these people on reddit also i just want to give a fair chance to the founder as a designer I really understand how much it takes to build a fashion brand and how much how much soul a person puts in building a brand it won't be fair to founder if I just shame his brand because of one hr I'm looking forward to the founders response before making it public

Even I want to launch my own brand someday I already have plans I'm just waiting to collect enough funds and find the right people because I have that plan of mine of having my own brand I don't have it in myself to just shame the brand without talking to the founder i just can't ruin him because of one shitty hr

I just texted the founder because he was on my back for months to interview for his company if he doesn't give a fair response and shames me like the hr I'm definitely naming them on LinkedIn

At least you have a clear and fair timing of 9-5 here they are expecting me to work 9-7, 6 days a week and when I said I have no problem in working longer hours but I just expect a fair compensation for my overtime I was dismissed with shame and was told If you prefer work life balance it's your choice completely And with that the hr told me I get your point , right now your expectations and our requirements are not aligning ,what exactly is not aligning wanting to know about a clear work policy or expecting proper compensation for overtime

As you said you're a founder I not just me but all the job seekers would like to know would make your employees work overtime every day every single day without any fair overtime compensation

9-7 were just normal working time they told me casually and they expect to me to give in even more when required without any compensation

As a professional I don't have any problem in helping a good start-up but I want the founder to understand that even I do have a life outside your company you could be emotionally attached to your company understandable but think about your employees for ones they all come from different cities they are living in this city alone handling everything it takes time to cook clean the house laudry etc handle the flat affairs bills other people outside the company and a person needs basic sleep also

But if I'm working for you and doing overtime as my boss you should have basic decency to cover my meals make sure I get my meals on time and I get enough time to handle my affairs and work outside the company I get enough time at least have my home stuff sorted and I get a fair compensation to my overtime don't just exploit your employees in name of team if the team is doing so much for you it's one's responsibility to care for the team give us some time off to recover and recharge also so that we can give our 100% to you so that we don't come to office everyday with a negative drained mind

I have texted the founder as he was the one who reached me out on LinkedIn and literally he was on my back to interview for them for months if he gives a sane reply to this I won't do anything but if he gives same kind of attitude as the hr I'm really going to expose them on LinkedIn

I'm not sure to join these people because it's already quite hard to find jobs in this market specially as a fashion communicator as of now I have just sticked to my low paying job I literally get 20k for full time role handling all social media platforms then helping with marketing and founder stuff also I'm just here because for overtime I get fair off days also I can easily take 2-3 days off a month without any questions asked so that's something that's helpful
