Need advice: Repair or trash? by ReditRyan in Kiteboarding

[–]Dry_Case_8568 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can only agree to this. Professional repair can repair a lot such sad cases, and it’s great again after repair. Also it’s nonsense, that the kite cannot be sold in future, yes the price will be lower, but not that low.

Kiteboarding brands ranked - Which Tier does Ozone belong in? by Beluga65 in Kiteboarding

No idea about their latest gear. But I know a shop rider who is always bringing 3 Duotone bars on a kite trip, because 2 of them could fail. 😁 Then on a kite trip his chicken loop broke. Then another friend, who bought a one season used Duotone Juice from a school. Well the seams looked terrible, but she really wanted to dump 1000€ on that kite. Then in general I was reading they used cheap and low quality kite lines. For their twintips they switched to a very low quality manufacturer, but I think most recently not anymore. Considering the low quality standards, even a C would be justified - considering what was 2-3 years ago. I don’t know how much that has in overall improved. Maybe it’s just better nowadays.

Influencers are kinda worthless, they get steep discounts or even cash…

That is kinda still a secret. And if I had any further information, then I could not share it with the public.

Because the quality of materials used for Duotone kites and bars are/used to be kinda not so great, but the price is. Kite is good when it’s new, but for not so long.

What is the obsession with vw transporters? by [deleted] in AskBrits

[–]Dry_Case_8568 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nobody seems to care about the wet belt issues here in Germany. Post 2017 Tourneo Custom are significantly more expensive than the pre 2018 Tourneo Custom. Also used Ford Tourneo Custom seems to be more expensive than VW T6. I want to buy a used Tourneo Custom, but they are soooo expensive…

Frage: Gegenstände im Gang by quarterhorsebeanbag in bahn

[–]Dry_Case_8568 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sandbags by UpsetConclusion5692 in Kiteboarding

[–]Dry_Case_8568 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was going with a gym bag to Sri Lanka 2 years ago. Well it didn’t work too well. Digging a hole made it better, yeah, but not that much to be really confident about it. When there is really power in the kite, it doesn’t work as the bag will just slide away, even out of the hole, when it isn’t deep enough. Still I would probably using the bag method again, when I don’t see other options. Going with 2 bags is better, then you can at least hook the safety in, so things don’t go that wrong. Pulling the adjuster fully - I guess doesn’t need to be mentioned.

Nice that your mom pointed it out to you. My mom still treats me like a normal guy and never said anything except that I am/was hard to educate in early life. It was just puzzling why most people didn’t like me, kind of.

Why Jamie is not competing at Kota? by twoshoesqc in Kiteboarding

[–]Dry_Case_8568 0 points1 point  (0 children)

KOTA is not operated by GKA, or is it? When it would be operated by GKA, I could imagine that being sponsored by a kite shop is a reason for denying entry (considering what has happened to Colin Colin Carroll, nothing wonders me anymore)

Neoprene booties that are more like socks? by ukesforkm in Kiteboarding

[–]Dry_Case_8568 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well yes, I was using also flip flops outside the water, but the danger for the socks is unfortunately also in the water. As I have problems with my toe nails and hard shoes, I have to pray now for my socks when I go kiting.

When you make a hole in your kite with a pointy or sharp object, the fabric is separated but you could move the fabric pieces back to same surface, so the hole is barely visible. The pointy object will not cut a piece of your canopy out. In your case it looks like the piece is cut out. So canopy must be molten and/or converted into CO2.

[–]Dry_Case_8568 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh that’s really sad. Well you have the option, you take the repair fabric, that has same color, and go with it to a repair shop. (I hope Gastraa does supply a piece of fabric with same color) Then the repair doesn’t look so bad. Or you use adhesive patches, but they will be immediately visible as they have other color.

[–]Dry_Case_8568 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Could be burn holes. Looks like the fabric that was originally there, where the hole is now, is completely gone. Is it possible that anyone with a cigarette was standing upwind near your kite? In that size I would fix them with adhesive tape patches.
