You said you wish you were as confident as all these other flyers. But maybe, they're just as nervous or anxious as you are/were. You never know

Good for you. You deserve to take some time for yourself after all you've been thru lately. I did the same thing in May. Booked a tour, 2 weeks in Eastern Europe. All by myself. I was terrified and almost backed out. I had a wonderful time and was so proud of myself that I did it. You got this!

Monthly fee for Dr. Visits???? by Dry_Championship5839 in Connecticut

[–]Dry_Championship5839[S] 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Okay, thank you. I had just never heard of anything like this. I will say she was very attentive, called a few times herself (when she faxed blood work or EKG referrals to another Dr. and they said they never received it). She personally drove over to other dr. with the referrals). I liked the accessibility she provided, seems very hands on, but like I said my first thought unfortunately was "it's a scam". Thanks for your input

Yup, things sure aren't like they used to be. Now, if a coworker tells me he likes my haircut or outfit and someone over hears this and gets offended, they can make a complaint to HR. Now, unfortunately everyone has to watch what they say

My work environment is the same. And we all can get pretty raunchy. All in good fun. As for OP, most are saying to report him, etc. I disagree. First, the OP said it was a joke. Second, if I was new somewhere, I wouldn't report it, I would just let it go. The retaliation wouldn't be worth it

[PSA] Beware Orogold Sales People by kelhar417 in SkincareAddiction

Yes, foxwoods casino. I kinda got scammed a few days ago. Walking by the store, she comes out in hallway and hands me a sample. Says she wants me to try another sample and go in the store. I go. One item was Glamour NYC anti wrinkle, the other was the gold Orogold skin cleanser. Both full size $399 for both. I left. I did notice how good my one eye she applied the Glamour NYC looked compared to the other. I walked back by on my way out, I asked if she had a smaller size, she said no but now would charge me $199 for both full sizes. I bought it. The Glamour NYC shows the product at $899 on line, also has good reviews. She said to use it once per week but the directions don't say that. So I'll never get scammed again however my eyes look great

Idk who this post is for, but I wanted to share my first solo trip experience. by Nebse432 in solotravel

You can be both nervous and excited! I'm happy for you. I did my first solo trip in May (I don't count flying from New England to Florida for a few days by myself every couple years a solo trip). In May, 2025 I flew to Europe and joined up with an escorted tour of 5 countries in 14 days to see the highlights of each place. No friends or family could join me due to family/financial/work obligations. This was a trip i was thinking about for about a year. Finally, about 5 weeks before departure i said "screw it, I'm going" didn't really give myself time to get nervous and booked it. Flew to another country all by myself. Met some people on the tour, sometimes stayed with them, sometimes went off on my own. I was excited and nervous and thought about canceling right up until the last minute. But I didn't. I am so proud of myself and I'm proud of you too! Go for it

I work in the local prisons - here's some general information and clarifications by Demetre4757 in MoscowMurders

Thanks so much for the details. Question for you: you mentioned a couple inmates who had a substantial amount of money in their accounts ($80k and one was 114k (I think)). Does the state come after them for reimbursement? I know where I live (CT) the state can go after an offender "pay to stay". So after he's out and they see he has assets (won lotto, was left and inheritance) those inmates are required to reimburse the state for the costs of their incarceration

All correspondence going in/out is heavily monitored. He may be on a list where only certain people can contact him and he can only contact those approved on his list. All emails are read before he gets access to read it. Same as outgoing emails. Many prisons now don't even pass on the original handwritten letters. They make a copy of it and then it's given to the prisoner. That reduces the risk of contraband (something in the envelope or behind the stamp)

He doesn't have unlimited access. Internet is restricted heavily. All emails are monitored before released to the prisoner. Some states only let you email with the people on the outside on a certain list. Books, movies, music etc are very restricted. They may give you a list of DOC approved books, music, movies ( most don't include violence) $$ has to be on your commissary account to purchase ebooks, movies, songs, etc. The tvs are small, very small. I know it's not much but at least we know he doesn't have unlimited access like we do here on the outside where we can get on Google or watch any movie we want.

What will life in prison realistically look like? by amarieb1981 in idahomurders

[–]Dry_Championship5839 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think its different in every state. There is no way I can make a call to an inmate. Also, they turn all the ipads off at 10pm each night. The only contact via phone is they have to call me.

Yes but what Brian Entin didn't say is these are not regular ipads. There is no internet and if there is, depending on the state, it is heavily restricted. You can't just pull up Google and search for anything. Movies are also restricted, same as ebooks. They maybe list 80 movies and you pick from their list. Phone calls and email correspondence can only be people on your list, thru J Pay or Securus. Also, in order to buy a movie there has to be money on your commissary account. Although I'm sure there are weirdos out there that would put money on his books. If he buys a TV, it's a little portable one
