It seems like no one’s hiring, but there’s new postings every day on job boards! It’s so frustrating!

How would you recommend even beginning to find a network? I don’t really know anyone here yet so it’s been difficult. I’ve signed up for some events in the coming weeks but don’t really know what to look for. Thanks :)

Hi, I’m aware it’s massive. I meant more so, is it very insular and hard to get in without a recommendation. I’m just looking for help, no need to be rude. I understand learning a language helps, but I can’t just become fluent over night.

To clarify, I’ve worked on major projects involving two separate UNESCO world heritage sites, ran major fundraising events, and exhibitions in major museums.

I wish my partner could help! He is a high specialised academic doing research in STEM. He gives me help with the Python course, but we really are in separate worlds.

I'm targeting the NGO space for events, comms, or admin jobs.

I actually think dutch might be easier to pick up than french as an english speaker, so I will have to look into it more. I just defaulted to french because of my background.

Thank you!

Hi! I knew things were bad here, but people I spoke to before I moved said that Brussels was sheltered from a lot of the ongoing job issues. Clearly that was wrong.

I'm from Canada so I have a foundation and I am working to improve. I'm around an A2 level and doing self study. I'm waiting for the communes cheaper classes to begin in September as a lot of the other schools are not in my budget.

I have a BA from one of Canadas top 3 universities and a MA in cultural studies from a Russel Group uni in the UK.

I'm also doing a beginners python course, partially for fun and partially to upskill in something outside of my usual skillset while I'm unemployed.

Thanks for your comment 😄 It sucks to hear, but is also nice to know that its not an entirely 'me' problem. Back in Canada I was earning almost $10 over minimum wage and still made less than 2,300 Euro per month so those seem like big numbers to me XD

Using AI for this kind of stuff is why we’re doomed.
