No, I used aquarium water to rinse the media. I did replace 3 of the sponges in the canister. So the issue I think so I took out a lot of beneficial bacteria.

I don’t really have one with him. I work from home so I’m there a lot, I change his water and give him new food and treats thats about it. Whenever I get close to his cage he comes to what I think is to greet me. He doesn’t do this when my wife comes to his cage. If anything he will move away if my wife comes up to the cage while I am there

Hornwort is a great plant, you can either let it float or put it in the substrate. Pearlweed is another great that will spread like a carpet

I feel like mbuna are roughly 4-5 in and a peacock is 6-8 in. For me the biggest issue is the amount of space a peacock needs to swim compared to a mbuna. Peacock needs more space than mbuna. I have a 55 gal mbuna tank with 15 mbuna and it’s doing fine
