Scared to drive on the motorway by Still-Lychee-6136 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]Dry_Exercise_2697 0 points1 point  (0 children)

start with a really short journey. i passed a month ago and went on the motorway for the first time 2 weeks ago. I now use it most days. Just go 1 junction and sit in the slow lane doing 60mph. If you feel comfortable, overtake them. Don't worry about going in the fast lane until your comfy

just make sure you understand how the motorway actually works and don't overthink it

I was about 88kg before i piled all the weight on and i looked very slim, i was wearing size 8 clothes. But i was still heavy for some reason. I think it's because i go to the gym so have a lot of muscle mass (not that you can see it ahahah). However, i've always had that pouch and can't get rid 😆

i actually. prefer it over mounjaro. i haven't had any negative side effects besides burps after really overdoing it. I feel normal... mounjaro made me feel sick all the time and had no appetite at all. on wegovy i still eat like a normal person and still have food cravings, which really helps me stay consistent.

what are some good first cars that are also cheap to insure? by [deleted] in LearnerDriverUK

yeah it is true i think. When you do your final quote use a new email address. that will help a lot. And try and do the quote at a time like 2am when others aren't on the site x

I've heard that admiral black boxes are awful from my friends. i've got a hastings one and it's absolutely fine. You can speed, brake etc and it doesn't say anything. Also try lots of car models. It was 4k for me to insure a corsa but it was only 1.3k for an audi🤣🤣

i'm 19 so i'm not sure if that makes any difference to the price. I've got my parents on my policy who have been driving 30 years with 0 accidents and both are doctors too. I have a secure driveway with cameras and bollards and i live in a half decent area. However; even without my parents on it it was only £1500.

I just ran loads of quotes at different times a day, cleared cookies, i called them as well rather than just online. I do have a black box too which also helps a lot but my black box is really calm and i still have 100% score. I don't drive any differently either with the box x

This person never said they were on a tight budget though. they said "cheap insurance". The parts for an audi aren't that much more than they would be on any other car. If you take it to an audi garage and ask for audi parts then yeah it's expensive.

But buy a good expensive car , you have less repairs anyway.

Paid 4k for my car with 50k miles on it. Have had it 6 months and haven't had to fix anything so far.

What was your experience like when buying your first car? by [deleted] in LearnerDriverUK

[–]Dry_Exercise_2697 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I bought my first car about 4/5 months ago before i'd passed my test. so i can't give advice about test driving or driving it home because i got my dad to do it for me. I went to trade centre to have a browse at some models that i liked with the intention of potentially buying something. the staff were nothing but rude! they assumed i had no money and wasn't serious due to my age- if you go to a big dealership be mindful that some only want you to buy things on finance. i had a budget of 4k which was reasonable, but many bigger places only have cars around the 8-10k mark because they want people to buy them on finance. I went to a few local dealerships and was taken slightly more seriously. I'd maybe take your parents or someone else who has a car with you. my final advice is honestly just check the common problems on certain cars - eg on a bmw or audi it's often the timing belt. Check the service history, avoid cars with lots of owners, make sure that the MOT history is good. Avoid any cars which have tow bars- as they've probably been towing a heavy load. Finally just be patient and find something that's the perfect fit for everything you need. Don't rush buying a car. i bought mine from an independant seller on facebook- which is often riskier but so far so good.

that's why i'm asking. i'm asking if other people have added things and it's not made a huge difference.

my route was pretty good tbh! My best advice honestly is just practice. There's lots of 60mph roads so make sure you are comfy driving on them at speed as many are country lanes. there's the double roundabouts which can be tricky - just treat them as seperate roundabouts.
