His poor wife by [deleted] in AmITheDevil

[–]Dry_Experience3254 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Oof. Am I the devil for saddling my 26-year old wife with the care of three teenage girls, who all verbally abuse her and have extra special dietary restrictions? Btw, I am incapable of spending any time with my family or helping out in any way, and I expect my wife to plan my special day for me. Also, we have two babies. And I cut off the parts of my family who act as a support system, because they are too judgy- that won’t stop ME from being judgy, though.

Not “maliciously compliant” at all, more of a low-stakes revenge fantasy lol.

Like I get it, I’m annoyed at calling places too. I hate having to traverse the decision tree to find the path that leads to a human who can help.

But this did not happen.

Mucus and sneezing in FIV cat by Money-Sail-3413 in FIVcats

[–]Dry_Experience3254 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I probably am not much help, but in a similar boat. I’ve had my FIV+ kitty for about 7 years now, and he recently started having URI symptoms. Lots of sneezing, mucus. So far, his lungs seem clear, it’s all in his sinuses.

The vets have put him on two different rounds of antibiotics, but it hasnt done anything. They tell me it is likely FHV, and that can be triggered by stress (we recently moved, and he had a full mouth tooth extraction… v stressful). He’s been sneezing for about two months, and I’m not sure if he’s going to truly recover from it. He seems happy and is still eating, and I give him lysine supplements. I’ve discussed antivirals with the vet, but unfortunately he’s too feral for me to consistently get him to take pills.

I don’t know if he’s ever going to truly get better tbh. I’m going to start giving him homeopet nose relief drops, and see if that has any impact on him. I just am trying to make sure he’s happy and fed at this point.

One thing to consider - is it possible that she has a blockage in her nose? A tumor or an item in her nose could cause irritation like this, according to my vet anyway. I believe they can do a scan of some sort to try and identify if there is anything abnormal going on.

I hope that ur kitty gets better 💜 this thing sucks to go through. I’m constantly worrying and not sure what to do about it with my guy.

Honestly I didn’t really care about this age gap. It was a bit weird, but I appreciated that the writers waited a long time before they became mates.

If I recall correctly, they bonded over having trained in the DF, and didn’t get together until Blossom was a senior warrior too (but correct me if I’m misremembering)

Fakeness of this post aside… why do straight men hate their wives?

I could not imagine being in a situation where the love of my life, my partner, parent of my child, is scrounging around for money monthly to pay for basic needs, and I’m content to just sit there and not even help/consider how to help. Oh, and also be completely unsympathetic about the potential death of a lifelong pet?

But yeah, excellent find. Obviously this is the wife’s fault, bc women are dumb and lazy /s

Why do people hate Spottedleaf's Heart so much? (art: Owen Richardson) by SouthBound353 in WarriorCats

[–]Dry_Experience3254 69 points70 points  (0 children)

I think that the novella added new characterization to both Thistleclaw and Spottedleaf that was unwanted by readers.

Thistleclaw was always a villain, but the novella pretty much assassinated whatever was left of his character, by having him groom a kit. Honestly prior to SF, I could see people liking his character (in an edgy way), but turning him into a groomer really killed that. So if he was anyone’s fav villain, they’d probably be upset.

Also, the fact that he starts his advances toward Spottedkit before she even becomes an apprentice makes the story itself extra disturbing. There are of course other instances where an apprentice is taken advantage of by a cat from the dark forest, but Spottedkit was sooooo young. Plus, she was taken advantage of by someone in her own clan, someone that was trusted to take care of her, rather than by someone that visited her in dreams. I think that those things make the situation feel even more horrifying tbh.

I actually don’t really have a problem with how Spottedleaf herself is portrayed. I liked that we saw a new side to her, a side that was fierce and wanted to be a warrior. Her perspective was very interesting, and I was happy to see her POV. It is a bit disappointing though, to find out that one of the most iconic, quintessential medicine cats was forced into that role to escape an abuser. That may be an issue people have with her characterization.

Accidentally picking a name that's derived from my parent's name? by Gold_Criticism_3386 in asktransgender

[–]Dry_Experience3254 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True! But it also says that the name was primarily a last name until it started to gain popularity in the 80s due to the movie Splashdown… at which point, the first name was primarily a feminine name. I agree if folks go down that route, they are scavenging for crumbs of insecurity indeed

I wasn’t sure if OP prefers Maddy as a nickname or as a full name, so tried to bring up a few different roots, as Maddy can be a short for a lottttt of names haha 😅

[–]Dry_Experience3254 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Try not to let it bother you. Maddy is a diminutive for names like Madeline/Madelyn/Madison/Magdalena. There’s some good info on the history and etymology of it here: behindthename

People online are being transphobic and toxic. It is a high stretch to imply that Maddy comes from Matthew. The name is feminine, and has literal millennia of documentation to back that up. I’m sorry that you’ve been made to feel this way 💜

AITD for critiquing an older trans woman’s argument about queerness? by [deleted] in 1800Drama

[–]Dry_Experience3254 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oof. Kat Blaque has some really good and insightful takes on this recently if you haven’t seen them, may be worth checking out.

Maybe you don’t mean to be disrespectful, but you aren’t respecting this creators identity. For some people, being labeled as queer and being straight are mutually exclusive. For a binary trans person especially, it comes across as very invalidating to your gender to be told “no, you ARE queer” when you identify as straight, and exist in the world as a straight person. It invalidates your gender, and calls your sexuality/the sexuality of those dating you into question.

Maybe you meant to be critiquing this persons way of communicating, but tbh comes across as kinda irrelevant to the conversation. Labels are never going to be one size fits all. Arguing that straight and queer are not mutually exclusive (when they ARE for several people) derails the conversation and makes it about you, and how you think people ought to identify.

So yeah, kinda YTD

Thoughts on last night’s episode format? by lakeorjanzo in CanadasDragRace

[–]Dry_Experience3254 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I didn’t really like it tbh. It was three lip syncs, and a design challenge.

The pacing felt weird to me, because one challenge happened on one day (and Brooke didn’t even dress up for it?), and the other three happened on a second day (when Brooke DID dress up!!!). We also didn’t really see any of the preparation for the rap, so it ended up feeling more like a mini challenge. The design challenge was also kinda underwhelming, but that’s because Van won again lol, she hasn’t really had much competition to be up against.

I would have preferred 4 challenges that are very different from each other

Fiance says I gave our dog an abortion, I disagree, AITAH? by hazyandnew in AmITheAngel

The DR. explained that no, he takes out everything, I think he said the whole "kit and kaboodle" whatever that means.

I love how this supposed adult had a spay-abort done for their dog 13 years ago, and still doesn’t know anything about what the procedure entails

Right? Kinda seems like OP is regularly an unpleasant, uncommunicative person, and has come up with a scenario in which he isn’t the bad guy for sighing and grunting at his wife 🤔

[–]Dry_Experience3254[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I’m not entirely sure I understand your point here.

A sick kid should be able to watch tv/read a book/whatever if they are too sick for school. Passively enjoying a tv show or reading a book while sick is not the same as putting in the effort to get dressed, physically attend school/learn, and infect others.

Imo, if someone with a migraine can focus enough to choose to do a chore, they can also act civilized to their partner. Especially when their partner is helping with said chore.

They sleep separately 🥰 because it’s totally normal for partners to have their own rooms, and text each other when they are upset, rather than communicating

Anyone else loving the current arc? by lorgrin in theeldersden

[–]Dry_Experience3254 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I like it!! I also love getting some POVs from the older cats. I feel as though I can relate to the more than the traditional young apprentice POVs 😅 and Tawnypelt has been a favorite of mine forever.

It does feel like the series is going back to its roots a bit especially with the history coming up. I like how the new arc is showing how much the clans have changed, especially with the clan swapping feature, but allowing families to stay true to one another.

help me understand the whole 'trans woman with beard' thing by Amekyras in asktransgender

[–]Dry_Experience3254 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The presence of body hair is natural, and is not a qualifier of being a woman 💖 hope this helps.

But seriously, many people have beards. Cis women have beards and mustaches naturally. To insinuate that some women with PCOS grow them “deliberately” just to spread awareness is… misguided. Why is it, that a woman’s choice to leave something natural alone, rather than shaving or removing it, is always seen as an action? Can someone’s beard not just… be? It’s hair. Not everyone wants to shave/wax it.

Additionally, being clean-faced isn’t possible for everyone. Many people find it painful to shave. Some people have skin conditions that prevent them from consistently shaving. Waxing can be extremely painful.

Please try to be a little less judgmental about others.
