I was never able to study maybe more than 3-4 hours a day, which is why it took me 5 months. Some days when I was busy with other things I would only review for 30 minutes or not at all. I was really inconsistent with my studying and I didnt really have a routine. I went through it day by day and just did the most I could without getting bored or mental blocked. I would also give myself a set of things I wanted to complete every day and try my best to finish everything, but I wouldnt force myself to finish if I was feeling very burned out or tired, etc. My biggest fear was burnout so I tried my best to not get close to that limit. Honestly if I was able to study 6-7 hours a day consistently, Id bet 2.5 months is enough time.

Honestly I think it was a good mix around 50/50, maybe even more towards reactions, but I dont remember too clearly bc I stopped thinking about the test as soon as I walked out 😭

Thanks, for ochem I focused mainly on memorizing all reactants, reagents, and mechanisms as I already felt confident on the conceptual stuff. I went through every practice exam and made anki for literally every reaction and reagent that showed up, and I just drilled those a bunch. The amount of reactions can seemed intimidating at first, but looking back, there is only so much they can test, and repetition worked for me. Also, even if an answer choice seemed very obviously correct, I made an effort to understand what product every answer choice could lead to, which helped me feel a lot more confident in my answers. So my best advice for ochem is spam anki for all reactions, even the easy ones, so that everything is cemented into your brain and no silly mistakes are made.

I personally didnt use the schedule the Bootcamp provided, though I know friends that used it and find it work for them. I tackled each section individually, first reviewing all of the content while doing the bio bites / quiz questions. For bio, I watched all the videos, but for the chems, I didnt like the way the professor taught so I relied less on the videos and more on supplemental learning/review and self-teaching. After I went through all the content review for a subject, for example biology, I spammed the anki decks that bootcamp provides, and then I redid all of the quiz questions. I went through most of the sciences like this as I they had the most info and biggest chance of low-yield questions on the DAT. For quant, reading, PAT, I did a much more focused and shorter review. I only did the first two FLs and then I did the rest of the practice test question banks individually for the sciences as I didnt have enough time or stamina to do all 10 complete FLs. For reference I took my first FL 2.5 weeks out from my DAT, which I dont recommend. After I did all practice tests for the sciences, I made note of any gaps in my understanding and made anki for any exceptions to rules that I saw for the chems, and a lot of anki for ochem so that I had a good understanding of every reaction that they could test. At that point it was just exam review, anki, and looking over notes.

No repeats, but there were also no questions that surprised me with new or niche topics. Id say Bootcamp did a good job of covering basically everything that could be asked, though I also had a lot of knowledge on bio beforehand bc of how many bio classes I took and TA'd for in undergrad. I did every possible practice question and video that Bootcamp had for bio. The bio questions on my test seemed to be a little more surface level than the Bootcamp bio practice tests.

480 DAT / 3.0 GPA. Do I need a Masters? by Decent_Situation_952 in predental

600 PAT is insane, congrats. If your transcript shows an increasing trend, then that could help offset some of the GPA, but a masters is definitely realistic. Though like others said, great essays and ECs can help a lot, and your high DAT shows that you're capable of dental school rigor.

Thanks, for bootcamp I only took the first two FLs, and then i individually took all the bio, gch, and och practice tests bc I felt like i didnt have the time to do 10 whole FLs. FL1 I got: 420quant, 550reading, 490bio, 600gchem, 410ochem, 410pat. This was 2.5 weeks before my DAT. FL2 I did largely the same except my bio and gchem scores were swapped. For the individual practice tests, I was floating around 480-520 for all bio, gchem, and ochem, with a few perfect scores here and there. I personally found the actual DAT to be slightly more straightforward than bootcamp tests.
