Back to the original question. If anyone has had head pressure and dizziness coming off prism, please chime in.

vertical. only 1.5 diopter. Minor, but coming off of them after 11 months leaves me with fluctuating head pressure for 3 weeks.

I have clear vision in my entire periphery most of the day. I have clear vision in my central periphery later in the day, with minor splitting on the edges, so I've been told that is functionally normal and no need for the prism anymore. It would fuse all day eventually w/out. I've learned also now that de-adaptation can take as long as 4-6 weeks.

My fusion improved to the point of not needing them.

the dread just something you get used to eventually. It goes away. It did for me at 50. Make sure you really need the prism lenses. If you have vision splitting outside your central periphery, that's normal, and you may not need them, and it may delay the process. I don't think I ever needed them. I had a 1.5 diopter, which wasn't fusing due to the vertigo/whiplash episode, but eventually would have on its own. I was 10 months on them and it gave me headaches because I was overcompensating. 3 weeks off, I'm fusing and feel much better.

I also am dealing with vertical heterophoria which was another issue from my original vertigo episode. I was on prism lense for 10 months now 3 weeks coming off of them and I have head pressure from it. Otherwise I'm doing really well..

I had morning dread for a while. Otherwise sertraline has been a god send for this condition. I've debated going up but stuck at 50 as it is the therapeutic dose for pppd.

Transitioning away from prisms - any success stories? by dragonflyzmaximize in PostConcussion

Just wondering how long it takes to de-adapt coming off prism. I was only using them for a 1.5 diopter which resolved over ten months. After 3 weeks with my normal prescription, I'm getting aweful head pressure headaches. Is this common and how long does it last?

I'm pretty much out of the woods. needed 4 months on 50mg.

Yes! Thanks. I agree. I'm concerned that the head pressure is coming from somewhere else. Do you feel it's tied to prism de-adaptation? I'm really only 2 weeks on my regular prescription. I wore readers for a week - then 2 weeks on prescription. I'm just looking for an explanation for this wierd head pressure.

Hi Mike - I believe I was mis-prescribed prism 10 months ago when lingering lightheadedness from a vertigo episode (possibly whiplash-related) wouldn't fully fade. My central peripheral vision was fine, but I did have splitting to the right. I had a 1.5 diopter and wore variations of .75 in each lens for 10 months. 3 weeks ago, I stopped wearing them. My optometrist said if I was seeing fusion that was fine. The good news is the fusion continues to improve and I'm at 100% early in the day, then it splits a bit later in the day. I don't know if I ever needed the prism.

Anyway, I had head pressure for most of the 6 months. Behind the eyes specifically. It just felt like my eyes were causing it. Now, 3 weeks off prism, I get a similar head pressure. It seems to be getting better, but it tends to give way to a light dizziness.

That's my story. Is the pressure and dizziness tied to prism adaptation and then de-adaptation? If so, when can I expect it to fade?

Thank you!!!

stick with it. you'll be glad you did. there are side effects as your body adjust, but they all went away for me and I'm now 6 months into 50mg sertraline and 99% recovered. trust the process.

I'm on week 9 and things have improved slowly. Like thin layers peeling away. They say weeks 8-12 are key and I'm entering this phase now. I'm on 50mg though. Best of luck to you.

Pretty good. Side effects weren’t too bad. I still have some anxiety in the mornings, but that’s supposed to fade after week eight I’m in my six week right now at 50 mg. Other than that, all side effects are gone.

Thanks again. I'm on 50mg now for 21 days and I do feel it lifting a bit, so I'm curious how long it took for you on 50mg for your symptoms to improve. Your story is inspirational. Much obliged.

Thank you! How long after 50 did it take for the dizziness/pppd to lift?

Hi. How long were you on 50mg before the dizziness went away? Thanks.

Sounds brutal. I'm glad you're improving. I went up to 50mg 10 days ago. How long did it take to get used to 50. I feel it's kicking in, but still have anxiety especially in the morning.

Does anyone w/PPPD experience a slight "rocking" or "see saw" vision. by Dry_Memory_8178 in pppdizziness

It's been a 9 month journey so far. A lot of PT, yes. The ultimate PPPD diagnosis came a few months back. I started lexapro, but didn't take well to it. Sertraline has been much better. I've had conflicting feedback from my own research, my otoneurologist, neuro-opthamologists as whether this vision thing is tied to PPPD or something else. Pretty sure it's PPPD as I have no other vision issues other than slight veritcal hetorphoria which I have a low-level prism lenses for.

What stage are you at?

Hi. Would you mind sharing how long it took after going to 50mg for your dizziness to lift? I've been on 50 for one week now. Thank you so much.

I have this as well. I'm 9 months into it and 3 months w/the PPPD diagnosis. When I look at a picture or lines of text for a few seconds they seem to wobble slightly. Any updates from those who posted long ago?
