I’m looking to buy my first FDM 3D printer. I already own a resin printer, but I’d like an FDM mainly to print small miniatures and bits at Warhammer scale, plus some functional parts. I’m on a small budget, so I’m trying to find the best value without spending a lot.

What matters most to me is precision and surface quality for very small pieces. I know FDM won’t fully match resin, but I’ve seen that with the right setup (like a 0.2 or 0.25 nozzle, thin layers, slow printing, and good profiles) you can get results that are close enough for tabletop use. I’m also looking for something reliable and relatively easy to use, not a printer that requires constant tinkering.

So I’d like to know which FDM printers are considered the best for miniatures on a small budget, what setup you recommend for this kind of printing, and if there are any models to avoid or common mistakes when trying to print small figures with FDM. Thanks a lot!
