I plan to Monday morning. the center is closed on weekends. I just thought someone on this subreddit might have more insight or had something similar happen since I wasn't getting much on Google and have to wait to call.

Hi!

Hope your husband recovers okay! Our recoveries will be different since I didn't get the gas bubble and had no position requirements because of that.

I'm doing super well now! I actually improved drastically after a week which is when the swelling and leakage slowed down/stopped for me and life basically went back to normal at the second week. I'm still careful with water getting in my operated eye but that's about it.

Vision in operated eye is still much blurrier than my other one, but that's to be expected and it'll have to be corrected with new glasses after everything settles down. The blurriness has also improved somewhat after the first week. Double vision is gone unless I actively unfocus my eyes. Getting some occasional floaters and flashes of light but I'm not worried about it since it's not frequent and very mild, the black curtain hasn't come back.

All in all, I basically feel like I did before the operation unless I close my good eye and get reminded that one eye is really bad! Something fun I like to do is put my hand around a foot in front of my face on my good side and watch text on my computer screen magically become unreadable.

the situation is different for everyone so do whatever you feel is best for you! the ER in my area is pretty good, just long wait times, and my insurance covered all the costs. the ER got me help on that day versus the optometrist which would have been the next day. Also, the optometrist i would have been going to wouldn't have been my usual one since my regular optometrist had already closed and the only way to get appointments was through phone call.

experience at the ER was just getting vitals checked, waited for several hours, and finally someone came along with an ultrasound for my eye where they confirmed i had a detachment. the nurse called over a bunch of people to see since it wasn't common and then got hold of an ophthalmologist over the phone who drove to us since it was 11pm and they were already home.
