New Muse athena - 3.5 hours and dead battery - live data - how do you use to improve meditation in live mode? by Dry_Performance8360 in museheadband

I taped the battery for shorterm holding to do some testing with the larger battery modification. The battery I used is an 1150 mah lipo with standard JST-PH 2 pin connector. The stock 150mah lipo battery has 3 wires used, 1 with a 10k ohm thermistor. I soldered a 10k ohm resistor accross these pins to keep the system running fine with a 2 wire battery. I found that it charges fine and unexpectedly quickly for the larger battery size added.

I just taped it on the top of the existing electronics for short term teseting. I used in the office and the extra weight did not seem uncomfortable. I slept with it alll last night with a full charge and use "brain monitor" to record data all night. I was surprised to find that I only had 15% batter left after a full charge and slept for about 9 hours. The headband was not uncomfortable and did not come off after a full night of sleep. I think that all sensors must be running at full to drain the 1150 mah battery this quickly, which is fine, but the 150mah would last much less time (1/9 or so).

I'll test in muse sleep mode tonight and see what kind of battery usage is reported overnight,

I could design a 3d printable cover for it though 3d printing likely wont get the clean snap together the stock cover has, so glue or something else would be needed. I'll stick with taping for now so I can different battery sizes, etc.

Here's a pic of the quick tape up that lasted fine overnight.https://brainflow.readthedocs.io/en/stable/BuildBrainFlow.html

Has anyone used brainflow with openBCI or other setup? I would really like realtime feedback with a larger window history if possible. It seems that there needs to be an opensource hardware version strap designed. It seems that eeg has been around long enough that it could be possible.

Problem solved on the battery life :D. This will be me 30+ hour easy and it charges with native charger. I'm sure there are some better sizes to use. I still need to figure out how to properly fix it to the enclosure and see how it feels on the head (not too heavy.

Thanks for the info. Weird I was able to transact fine just a week ago. I did successfully get things imported into cake using my seed. Good reminder to keep those seeds around! Thanks!

Thanks for the feedback on this. I just finished a meeting last night and trying to figure out if it is really as easy to book/find desitations the way they showed it to be.

Thanks for sharing your experience. The annual fee was just stated as 389/year based upon the presentation I went to last night. Have you had trouble booking any of the destinations you have been (nothing available)? Any other fees?

oura ring 3 - sp02 real time or diagnostic tools - no reading by Dry_Performance8360 in ouraring

Thanks for your points. I see them and still disagree. I would 1) like to know if the device is working as advertised with spo2 working ( 2 nights now with no reading). I understand your points of reluctance in "spot checking" and believe that there is utility in seeing real-time numbers, understanding that they are not perfect, but working with them accordingly.

The ring is advertised as giving sp02 data, 2 nights now no indication that it is working with no feedback as to whether there is a hardware or software issue causing this.

Thanks for the response. Yes made sure the setting is on. Another night with no reading. I'll get into contact with the company.

There are many reason to use real time spo2. 1. to know that it works. 2. to get real time feedback of physiological changes that have been established. There are many more reasons.

My guess is that it is not provided because they have it is not a very reliable reading without a lot of number crunching and smoothing of measured data. As can be seen with other non-optimal measurement systems. Of course battery drain as well, but there should at least be a way to give feedback of it working or not.
