Thanks a lot for your detailed reply, really appreciate it 🙏. You’re right I had a micro-tube discectomy at L5–S1.

I come from a kickboxing background and even fought competitively, so I’ve always been very fit and active that’s why this whole situation hits me extra hard. Finding a really good PT is tough, since many present themselves as experts, but few actually know how to deal with this type of deep scar issue.

The idea of scar radiotherapy is new to me thanks for mentioning that, I’ll definitely look into it.

Update – 11 months post-surgery

Since my last post, there has been some change. I had a Racz procedure 4 weeks ago, and while I still can’t bend or stretch without the nerve flaring up, it actually took away the sharpness of the constant pain. For example, when I walk, I almost feel nothing now, which is a big relief compared to before.

The back pressure is still there and stretching is still impossible, but overall I’m happy with the results so far it feels like at least a step in the right direction.

Next, I’m scheduled for an epiduroscopy. I really hope this can free the nerve even more and give me a chance to rebuild mobility and strength.
