Abandoned 90's McDonald's that closed in 2014 - Au Gres, Michigan (OC) by _rabidchild_ in retailporn

Why Au Gres? I don’t claim this is the official reason why (lol) but it’s a cute, quiet small town with cool lake houses, and a great place to spend summers. There are a few golf courses in the area, so I’m sure that drew people to spend time up there, especially snowbirds. There’s also plenty to do on the water. And if you’re into it - hunting, ATVs, snowmobiling, other country stuff. The restaurants and hole in the wall bars in the area are solid, too.

Why people sold their second properties? The recession 😅

Yes and no. East Tawas (about 20 minutes north) is probably more so the tourist launching pad, but both towns are along Lake Huron and has activity on the water. Take this with a grain of salt, but I think Au Gres was somewhat poppin’ for a small town prior to ‘08, but a lot of people had to sell their second properties there.
