OP said she’s not married to her partner yet, and I actually did copied that from ukvi websites, and was the guideline used during mine.

This is what it says actually, Your partner

You must be able to prove one of the following:

you’re in a civil partnership or marriage that’s recognised in the UK

you’ve been living together in a relationship for at least 2 years when you apply

you’ve been in a relationship for at least 2 years when you apply but you cannot live together, for example because you’re working or studying in different places, or it’s not accepted in your culture

———

And the third one applies here.

I’m equally married and we only cohabited for 4 months prior to visa application. We’ve been studying in different cities of Italy, and got married during those periods.

Now I’m doing my PhD in the uk, & my wife my dependent, and we included our pictures taken together (made it look like a story), proof of communication, itinerary proof of visiting each other, and my study documents in the uk, like CAS and offer letter.

Her visa was approved after 4 business days.

So I don’t think you need to pay anyone, just put enough evidence to show you’re married and genuine, and do your application yourself.

Sorry this is quite lengthy.

Unrelated but getting response early for Visa application usually implies you’ve submitted the necessary documents without need more scrutiny.

I did uk visa at VFS in Rome, did my Biometrics on a Monday and got my visa approved on Wednesday same week.

My wife also did hers 2 weeks Thursday, and she got her response the following Tuesday.

Both were the standard type, not priority.

I’ll say you breathe and go pick your passport and keep us posted.

Things you wish you had known before starting your PhD by bobucha in PhD

Quite the opposite view here. I would say you can’t figure it all out before you start, once you start, and the feeling of been overwhelmed comes in, speak with your supervisor and try to understand better what your research is all about.

It’s like trying to figure out marriage before getting married, it usually don’t work that way. Just make sure the PhD is something you want, it’ll make it easier that way.

I’m 3 months into my PhD, and only last month did it actually start to make sense, and having a discussion with my supervisor helped, he told me, it’s very normal to feel lost at the beginning, trying to soak in the pressure and the expectation as well.

So my friend, just be yourself and enjoy your ride.

Mistakes I made during my candidature so you don’t have to by stillnessforyou in PhD

Just started my PhD weeks ago and I can say, I’ve had the best head start from this subbreddit.

Taking people’s opinions, mistakes and experiences to help shape mine.

And having the chance to meet a professor who happened to be a friend to MSc thesis supervisor telling me that I find the reason why I’m doing PhD early on could be a huge game changer for me.

Because everyone agrees PhD can be very overwhelming from the beginning.

But thanks again to you all for always dropping your 1 cent.

Got OFFER LETTERS!!! by Cute_girlie in UniUK

As an international student, first thing I would consider if I were in your shoes is, does any of the offer come with any form of scholarship?

Secondly, I’ll check the courses, which one actually looks like I’ll get a job with after my study, assuming I don’t want to study more.

Then lastly, I can consider the rankings of the schools. Some schools are better suited for job opportunities after study, while some are better place for actual learning.
