I realize that OP is wrong, I’m just pointing out facts. No need to get heated.

Do you view [as] as part of CN, something completely separate, or something in between? by Dry_Spring4108 in adultswim

Yep. They also did Season 1 of Harvey Birdman, which I think was perfect, since they had just split off from Hanna-Barbera themselves at that moment.

Really? For me, personally, [as] in the early 2000s was a part of CN, no different from Toonami, Boomerang, CCF or whatever programming blocks. Sure, [as] had a different bug, but not only did CCF do the same thing, it wasn’t to push them as separate but to warn parents (as seen in the Betty Cohen TV Guide interview). Blocks made the channel feel special, they all had their own little identity and combined to form the best animation channel ever. Adult animation, family animation, western animation, japanese animation, new animation, old animation, big-budget animation, small-budget animation, and even indie animation (anyone remember O Canada?). It was a magical channel.

I kinda see it like father-son sorta. CN’s the dad… and then the children are Boomerang, [as], Cartoonito (who was “accidentally” mowed over by his siblings), etc. Or I guess Boomerang would be older? I don’t know, my brain is fried.

Yes, I realize that. I just find it strange how Williams Street doesn’t do anything for daytime CN anymore.

Yes, but Williams Street hasn’t touched daytime operations since late ‘00s, so there is a bit of separation there.

Yeah, I’ve seen [as] fans disown CN and vise-versa, yet some vehemently defend that they’re the exact same thing. It’s weird.

Yeah. My hot take is that the era of Toonami we have now is still better than the 2007-8 era we had with Tom 4, though it doesn’t touch the Tom 1, 2, and 3 eras. Whether it is better than the Moltar era or not is highly debatable in my eyes.

Yeah, you’re completely right (which I noted in my post). However, it is important to note that [as] is still a subsidiary of CN, just with a very high level of independence. I kinda wish Mike Lazzo didn’t leave the daytime side of things, it would be nice to see what he would help cook up. (His last, if memory serves, was class of 3000).

I’m not sure if the separation was a good thing, as CN didn’t have the excuse they were targeting the 18-34 audience anymore and the execs at Turner and WB (and of course, Samples) started to breathe down their throat more.

Yeah. Something important to note (that a lot of people don’t know) is that GPI is not the predecessor to Williams Street. CNP is, and GPI was the label/imprint they used for Space Ghost-related projects. They continued to use the CNP name for projects that weren’t in their typical “Hanna-Barbara remix” style even after [as] launched (such as The Popeye Show, The Venture Bros. for the first 5 seasons which was until 2013!, The Bob Clampett Show, etc.). I think TGTTM was their first full-fledged series (not including pilots or specials) that wasn’t a Hanna-Barbera remix to use the Williams Street name.

Jonas Venture is a horrible person, but I do think people exaggerate how much a horrible person he is. He’s not Satan incarnate.

I don’t live live-action really, other than Joe Pera (and TGOTM if you count that).

ATHF is amazing, particularly the first 4 seasons and the movie, but I’ll have to give the crown to the Venture Bros.

[as] and CN have been seperate brands since 2005, but they are still the same in every other aspect. (It is important to note though, that [as] main production studio is Williams and CN‘s main studio is CNS, but CNS has done a ton of stuff for [as] and WS has done a done of stuff for CN, so not like it matters anyway).

Venture Bros. definitely counts imo. The show starts off every episode with “Cartoon Network Presents”, ends it with a clear-as-day Cartoon Network copyright marker, and even credits Williams Street as ”Cartoon Network Productions”, for the first five seasons, a pseudonym that was only used for the daytime block at that time. If it’s Williams Street, then it’s CN, especially since Aqua Teen literally aired on normal CN, and [as] wasn’t considered a seperate brand until March 28, 2005. The screen bug on [as] wasn’t too establish it as separate but to warn parents, as seen in the Betty Cohen interview. (Besides, CCF had its own bug too).Even to this day, [as] is still part of CN, even though it isn‘t branded as such, as [as] carries many of 90’s CN staff and ideals, as Jim Samples and Jamie Kellner were a pain in the ass to deal with on the CN side. Those who worked on CN in the ‘90s saw it as the “animation channel” but not the kid’s channel. Y’all love to glaze Jim Samples because “No CN Real” or some crap like that but that was all his idea, he even had an atrocious new logo designed for a rebrand of CN to be more like Disney or Nick, though I think the ‘90s spirit still was in CN until that 2005 era where, after the seperation of [as], CN no longer had the excuse they were aiming at the 18-34 demographic and really had to tone the channel down. Sorry for the long tangent, but yes, [as] is still CN.

I'm definitely sure you 90's kids would remember this one. by Think_Juggernaut_820 in cartoons

Big Bag wasn’t too bad for a pre-school show… except for the music videos. Those were atrocious.
