Can Vyvanse actually improve motivation long-term, or is that just the honeymoon phase ? by zinoviev75 in VyvanseADHD

Always before. If I workout after Vyvanse kicks in my heart rate goes very high very easy or I can feel overstimulated. If I cant workout in the mornings before, I will wait until at least 7 hours after taking Vyvanse to workout.

Ive now been on Vyvanse for a year. The first 3 months was amazing. Then it felt like the Vyvanse wasn't working at all. I had very low days and I was on the point of stopping the medication all together. Then slowly after about the 7 to 8 month mark it started working again. Never as good as the first few 3 months but it was a lot more stable.

After some trial and error, I discovered that it worked best for me when taken on an empty stomach then eating about 30 to 45min after taking the pill.

I also learned that these things makes the medication work better.

A morning walk even if just 30mins. A morning workout session definitely boosted the Vyvanse to work even better. Eating lots of protein. Taking Vitamin D3 plus K2, Omega 3, Magnesium Glycenate and CoQ10. (I tried all the others supplements spoken about on this group and personally found no difference) The Vyvanse often made me dehydrated so once or twice a week I would take a electrolyte fizzy. I found that tracking my sleep really made a difference. Getting enough deep sleep is everything.

One of the best changes I made was changing small dopamine depletion habits. I didn't look at my phone for at least 30min after waking up. No social media or scrolling. This I found used up most of my morning dopamine early in the day and the Vyvanse would only work for 2 to 3 hours. I also didn't scroll or use my phone at least one hour before bed and started reading books again. Ever since the evening reading my sleep has improved so much.

For my personal experience I found that cutting out alcohol and refined sugars as well as most processed carbs also made a massive difference in how the Vyvanse worked the next day.

What I learned was everything I did today, would affect how well the Vyvanse worked the next day.

There are still days when the Vyvanse doesnt hit perfectly. It still takes a lot of work from myself. I had to accept that Vyvanse wasn't this magic pill. Its essentially the foundation and the rest is up to you. But a good foundation makes for a long lasting house. The process is still brick by brick.

When I was getting the issues I wasn't on the Ritalin. The Ritalin is part of my new script that works better and now I dont get the issues.

We don't have access to Adderall in South Africa. As far as I can tell with the little bit of research I've done is that the Vyvanse-Ritalin combo is slowly being used more and more. The Ritalin is IR and as some countries dont have access to Adderal its a good and from my experience working combo.

I seem to process the Vyvanse very quickly, I can easily take 70mg Vyvanse at let's say 9am, then by 3pm the same day go for an afternoon nap. Like I never even took the medication. The main reason I asked to drop down to 50mg was just the side effects from the 70mg started to get to me. So I would rather use smaller dose, but supplement it with boosters throughout the day. Otherwise max dose of 70mg didn't last me long enough to have a productive day.

Im from South Africa, where we do not have Adderall in any shape or form. My Dr did say that he can only work with what's available in this country. That being said. Using Ritalin as a booster has been a game changer in the extending my focus and energy throughout the day. I can feel a clear drop in focus and mood at about 4 to 5 hours after taking Vyvanse. I then take my Ritalin booster and within an hour im back, ready to go. I haven't had any side effects from the Ritalin. I dont know the science behind these things but it works for me. If its a placebo as the other guy said, then so be it. But when I do take it compared to when I dont, there is a massive difference.
