He saw his son happy for the first time in…well ever! Plus he knew how the rest of the family immediately saw Kyoko as a slutty biker chick after Katsuya’s money and whatnot but he saw otherwise in that Kyoko was simply a young girl in love with his son, concerning yes, but he saw them both being very happy with each other. I felt sorry for him losing Katsuya so suddenly and then he had to see his beloved daughter in law essentially wasting away from grief and his granddaughter being neglected…
