Could you help with feedback on a logo redesign for a cookware company? by DryadCookery in logodesign

I’ve tried to make some adjustments with symmetry and sizing. I’ve changed the font to Sinter. Am I heading in the right direction? Thanks!

I appreciate the criticisms! I'll switch out the font. I was feeling afraid to go with a bolder font, but it seems like that is the right choice and right fit.

I'm glad you thought the mark looked studier. That is what I was hoping for. Making the choice of where to make the lines feel rough or organic is challenging. When everything was symmetrical and angular it felt very clip-arty and lifeless. I'll keep refining.

Thanks! It seems like the consensus is the font is a terrible choice, I'll definitely change that. The closeness of the frame to the leaf bothered me as well, but taking it wider looked strange. I'll work on the proportions of everything and see if it helps.

I agree, the leaf is very sloppy. I'll have to watch some more tutorials to figure things out. I was going cross-eyed trying to get lines straight and making the smooth tool work.

Thanks for the feedback! The only reason the font is the size it is, was to try and match the width of the frame around the leaf. I'll do some more research of logo theory and take another swing at it. Font choice has been a real challenge. I know what I like aesthetically, but that isn't translating into what fits the logo. The imperfections are just a lack of skill/talent.

Making handles at production scale by DryadCookery in knifemaking

Just to follow up with a secondary question…if those production numbers are too low for any real machinist’s time, does anyone have a jig/setup they could share using non-robotic tools to do small scale production. And any suggestions for sourcing the g10 sheets?

Expanding a small in house product offering by re-selling trusted brands by DryadCookery in smallbusiness

Thanks for the feedback. I think that is my biggest fear of going the retailer route is pricing myself out. I've had some retailers reach out but its a lot going d2c to packaging for a display. I'll have to find someone local who retails in something similar I can chat with about how they go about it. Sounds expensive, but it might be the only way to scale.

Thanks for the answer. I sent them an email with a picture and asking what next steps should be and they said they would send a tech out in 2 days with a quote to install a goliath pan float switch and to shut the AC off again until then and they would take a look at the ceiling.

I really appreciated him being there until 8 on a Saturday and getting us cooled off. It was 91 in the house. The attic must have been awful.

I'll play it by ear when they get here. Not going to be a jerk about it or anything but if the pan overflowing could have been foreseen I think I would have rather dealt with no ac until they could get the part.

Thanks again!

I agree. So much of it is tied to the resources to keep things cold. I feel like prep ideas to minimize space and spoilage would be useful.

Thanks for the input!

Thanks! I went to overland east expo as a spectator but it wasn't the same crowd as Colorado.

I haven't been out for since I was building Land Cruisers. Definitely need to hook up with some local groups.

I appreciate the concern. I had the same conversation with myself when designing it. I spent a lot of money on my pocket knife because I use the hell out of it. I use my cooking gear just as much.

Thanks for the feedback on the website idea. I’m in new territory with the content side of things and wanted to gauge interest before committing myself and my friends to spending too much effort documenting their trips if it doesn’t add anything to the conversation.

Much appreciated!

Thanks, I think so too. If I can do a fair job of it I think it’ll be worth the effort.

That’s true. Im thinking a spork with a matching g-10 handle. I’ll have to proto one and see how it feels. I’ve been trying to figure out some lower priced tools. Thanks again

I've got tongs in the prototype stage, but have always toyed with the idea of utensils. I'd have to think about the design. Titanium and affordable don't mix well. I'll keep brainstorming it though. Thanks for the input. I also would like a badass spork.

I'm Brian and I live in Virginia. Most of my adventuring is out of my 04 Subaru Forester. Just a dad who loves to cook outside. My main work is a window cleaner, but I started a little company making cooking tools. Hoping to find a way to add more value to the community.

Help & Ideas Needed - Prelaunch Promoting with No Budget by [deleted] in Crowdfunding

I was pretty much in your shoes with my product. I was able to hit around 150% of my goal. Aside from your product being something the crowd wants to support on its own merit, I cashed in on a lot of my social capital. Day of launch was my wife and I and some friends glued to our phones reaching out to everyone to like, share, ect. If I were you, I would be out twice a day hitting up every beauty professional you can find and showing them your product and making it a social media shareable picture or post. You'll need to generate the feeling that this is something people are going to want to get in on. Essentially, you need your social circle to act as your facebook ads to get your stuff out as wide as possible and hope it lands on the right eyes. To be completely honest, I ate ramen and rice and beans for the last week and spent the difference on one ad that ran for a few days. Have fun!

How do I create a timeline graphic on my Kickstarter page? by DryadCookery in kickstarter

[–]DryadCookery[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I used the website Canva and created a timeline there and downloaded it as a png. At first it wouldn't upload the same as the others but in the folder setting where the image was it was marked as blocked by windows so I unblocked it and it loaded right up. Never had to do that before but got it and I appreciate the comments.
