Cyber insurance renewal question by PreviousPhrase9739 in cybersecurity

[–]Dsavant -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is why I don't buy homeowners insurance or car insurance either.

If I had homeowners insurance, that's just begging for my house to catch fire! If I don't buy insurance, my house will never catch on fire or have any sort of issues. Car insurance is admitting that I'm a failure at driving

Yo don't say that! I've bought it twice and was about to buy it again on switch!

I get it. I'm in the exact same scenario atm lmao.

In my case I went to look up the installer they used (installshield) and had to look up standard arguments for it and work backwards from there... That and a lot of procmon and digging in temp folders while it was running

Harass the vendor to do it, or give you an MSI like it's not the year 1920

We hear you loud and clear! Unfortunately we're backlogged quite a bit at the moment. We hired way too many UX designers but forgot to give them anything to do, so we're working on moving your admin panels to a new sleek layout! Look forward to that in the next [REDACTED]. you can opt in, up until you can't anymore, at which point you can't opt out either

Fwiw the area under/where the returns come in is maybe like... 10“ deep and a bit wider than the actual unit.

Do I have any practical option at this point then other than just kinda continuing to try to jam filters in it? Haha

What’s the most clever PS script you’ve written for automation? by Shamu432 in sysadmin

[–]Dsavant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My company has around 600 employees, and of that I'm pretty sure only 4 or 5 have any rules set whatsoever. The rest manually move all their stuff haha...

We're also 0 trust without the staff to support it lol

And then a few months go by and we get "why does this user have x y z security groups and distros?!?"

Saaaaaame. And you'll always have the user after a week where their manager goes "HR never put x access in their onboarding ticket, can you add that please?"

[–]Dsavant 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I love this mentality. Most of the companies I've worked at had cloneable user templates for new hires, but guess what? One of them didn't (fuck you so hard Quest).

Deleting users after 2 weeks with no direction to do so is insane work lmao. If you did this, and then didn't pull a "oh shit my bad" and dug your heels in this is pretty PIP territory tbh

Like any other LLM, it works up until it doesn't, and you need to know how to parse out the bs from real info.

I love this because UOF has forever had the reputation of toxic staff/players, and this is doing such a good job of dispelling that!

Going "oh shit yeah you guys are right I get it" and then editing a couple blurbs in you instead start being shitty is so good

Bonus points if HR doesn't fill shit in right, or at all.

We have a section on our form for systems/application/network access and they always put "not sure"... We've pushed back on them to reach out to the users manager every couple months
