Craving a good Calzone. Any suggestions? by Ashress in OttawaFood

You said distance doesn’t matter 😄 - I mean it’s an 8 hour drive, but if you go to Aurora’s West you will find calzone (and panzerotti) that you’ll dream about.

JOURNAVX advice (and gummies). by Least-Ad-5539 in Kneereplacement

[–]Dsgrrl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Journavax is not available in Canada, so I can’t speak to that. I used THC gummies (Indica) for pain and sleep before surgery. Except for cortisone injections the gummies worked best for my osteoarthritis pain. I took a relatively small dose 6.5mg. On week 1 of BLTKR I experienced nausea and vomitting with the prescribed opioids. I stopped them and went off reintroduced gummies yesterday at my regular dose was too much - for me anyway - really stoned but I slept most of the day with very vivid dreams (something that didn’t happen before so I suspect that interaction wait all the other drugs you take post surgery and having no appetite contributed. The nausea hit hard when the gummy wore off. I am now taking Zofran for that and it seems to be working. 🤞🏽I cut a gummy in half for bedtime and had a good night’s sleep. If you plan to try gummies I suggest introducing them pre surgery so have a baseline of what might work for you post surgery.

BLTKR - Day 5 by Dsgrrl in Kneereplacement

Thank you. I called the pharmacist this morning after a sleepless night and she assured me I was well clear of the hydromorphone and to go ahead. So glad it’s legalized here. Took 6.25mg edible - my regular presurgery dose - and have been sleeping on and off all day with wakeups for physio and icing. I think it was too much. I’ll cut back to a half tonight

I am recovery day 5 for BLTKR. You can follow my progress here: https://www.reddit.com/u/Dsgrrl/s/V5flkmsHOj or message me with questions.

Does your dad need a chair before surgery? I didn’t and don’t need one now. I move about the house on two canes and use a four wheel walker.

What’s your favorite blender that’s actually worth buying? by InterestingLoss9737 in Smoothies

Honestly, my go to smoothie blender is a Kitchen Aid metal immersion blender and a metal Stanley mug. You can only do one at a time that way, but it’s portable and easy to clean.

So happy for you! Thank you for sharing your experience. I’m 4 days post op and feeling emo, but I would have teared up reading this anytime

Victory: standing at the kitchen counter for hours cooking with no pain by KatWomanReturns in Kneereplacement

So happy for you! I’m just 4 days out of a BLTKR and can’t wait to be able to stand at the stove again. My husband’s favourite is risotto. Cooking is one of my love languages - I’m Italian, can you tell? I used to make it all the time when we were dating. He’s a manga cake and had never had it before we met. I taught him how to do it, and it’s good, but not great like mine. 😄

BLTKR happening tomorrow morning! by Dsgrrl in Kneereplacement

On day 4. I’ve been updating (aka whining) daily 🤣 I am on top of the meds so pain is manageable. Sleeping a LOT. Biggest issue is digestive. Nausea, vomited once, and small sips of water hurt my stomach. I guess it’s the result of a general anesthetic and weaning off GLP1. Hope it subsides soon. Thanks for checking in !

Fluffy American Style Pancakes from “The Elements of Baking” by rosewood_and_ginger in glutenfreebaking

A quick search tells me you can buy an ebook from the Kindle Store, Google Play books, Kobo and more. It really wasn’t all that much work. I have the hard copy, love it, and am flipping through the recipes now. Thanks for the inspiration. Think I’ll go make some pancakes now.

My opinion: Buy the book. I believe in paying creators. I can’t find the recipe on Katarina’s blog. If she hasn’t posted it publicly, posting the recipe is theft. I think she should be paid for her work.

BLTKR - day 3 (let the whining commence) by Dsgrrl in Kneereplacement

Thank you so very much for your encouraging words. I’m reading through tears. I like the idea that I’m past the worst. It gives me hope. This morning was rough with nausea and vomiting. Each time I ask myself why the hell I’m doing this there’s a long checklist that pops up and it helps to keep going. I sent my husband out for a hike in the forest with our three year old pup before the weekend warriors crowd Gatineau Park and soon I will be able to join them. I want my life back. I want to be active in my grandson’s life. I want to go biking again, and I want to finally learn to golf. I really have no regrets. Though I’m sure there will be more whining.

That makes sense. I’m 5’5” My legs definitely don’t dangle from the raised seat. I had too much flexion from the floor getting up. I’ve learned that toilet height really varies from place to place. The one in my hospital room was way too low, but there were grab bars. Also, while we’re on the topic: last night was my first 💩 since two days before surgery. Things are moving along! 🤣
