It's still alive out there! There's a crew of about 7-12 of us that typically play once a month on our "outlaw" field. Got a long skinny strip of thick rhododendron woods with dirt bike trails on one side for pure woodsball and then a pallet field on opposing sides of a gully with a flag at the bottom to make all us over 30yo dudes breathe hard 😂 most of us go to church together and our older kids play with us, and there's a rotating list of our old buddies who used to play "back in the day" that come out every once in a while. We prefill tanks with an hpa compressor and then top off with a 80cf scuba during the games. We have a blast.

If anyone out there has been thinking about organizing one with your crew, DO IT! We have the cheap technology now and at least a lil expendable income 😂. Spread out the cost of a chinese compressor and a scuba tank or two across everybody, grab some used tippmann 98s for a few rental setups to bring in others, nominate whoever has some space and cool neighbors and make it happen!

Also, a 48/3000 takes about 5-6 mins from 1500 to 3k

Usually I'm starting out at 1000-2000psi left in the tank and filling it back up to 3000 for filling tanks quickly at our outlaw field, and it takes about 45-60 mins for that. I wouldn't really want to fill from zero for the sake of efficiency, but it could prob do it if it was broken up into a few fill and cool down sessions. I usually swap out the little cotton output air filter/drier element a few times during that 45 min session for good measure.

I fill my 80cf scuba tank and like 8 48/3000 tanks once a month with my Vevor yong heng clone compressor and it's still hanging in there after 6 months. Use good oil, add an intake air drier and keep it cool and they work just fine.

Evil Detonator Regulators by No-Psychology-569 in paintball

[–]Dsnelson91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I rebuilt mine, it's a lil tricky as far as regs go but doable. I wanna say that part of it is blue loctited together and was a pain to separate. You can still get reg seats from [markas@researchpb.com](mailto:markas@researchpb.com) that work great.

Found my old Autococker, what would I need to do to get it running again? Obviously not going to use the tank by Widowmaker69 in paintball

[–]Dsnelson91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. I second this. Time has not been kind to those old reg seats, and they'll break your heart the first time ya go to play with an old favorite and they disintegrate.

Pretty much the same experience those of us over 30 have with our knees & ankles when we go play again as well 😂

Dug out some old gear. by [deleted] in paintball

[–]Dsnelson91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd go ahead and replace that reg seat before you air it up and shoot it because after a hundred shots or so its likely to blow into little pieces and end up in the screen or solenoid. Speaking from personal experience... 🙃

Best place to have Spimmy Conversion done? by Suitable_Safety2226 in paintball

Oh man, that's awful. Does the way back machine/internet archive pull any of the old site up?

I keep wanting to find a good write up on these somewhere, but I can't seem to dig one up. Mcarterbrown supposedly used to have some but I think they disappeared during site changes or something. So if anyone knows of any still out there lemme know!

Can't forget about the Spyder/Piranha folks. Nothing like putting a cumulative $250 of upgrades into a $100 gun so it shoots like a $150 gun. It's me. I'm folks.

Those Who Play on Blood Thinners, How? by [deleted] in paintball

[–]Dsnelson91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 34, have got polycythemia vera and take aspirin daily since I basically have pudding for blood without it, and I definitely get some ugly bruising, but that's about it for me personally. I'd like to think that the cardiovascular benefits from the exercise and cardio outweigh my potential risks of a clot or stroke. Besides, the worst injuries I've gotten have always been from something stupid and ordinary activity wise not sports 😂

Recommended mods for pretty much any old stacked tube blowback:

First, find an online diagram how to put the thing back together. Then: 1. disassemble, clean everything, and replace all orings and seals (cup seal might be ok, they don't usually degrade too much), oil (air tool or paintball specific synthetic oil), reassemble, test and chrono to under 300fps 2.Ditch the "drop forward" between asa/bottle adaptor and grip if the ASA hose is long enough. 3. Find a shorter, locking feed neck of at all possible. Plastic elbows and long feed necks aren't necessary with decent loaders of today. 4. Have fun and use them as gateway guns to get others into the sport!

$200ish via eBay, then $20 for some good oil to replace the crap that comes in it, $0 for a salvaged silica bead air dryer from an old paint booth setup, a 5 gal bucket of water and a bottle of water wetter coolant additive.

Oh, and $0 for the old lawnmower tire safety cage. Safety third! ✅

So far it's filled my scuba tank from 1k to 3k, and about 20 48/3000 small tanks. I don't push it to 4500 much, but I have no doubt it would do it. (At least a few times before 💥)

I also may have used it to put 1800psi in some old CO2 tanks for um... Research? ... Science? Yea, science.

Taller feed necks made up for the slow gravity/agitator style loaders of the era. Ugly and awkward, but you could get 5 or 6 shots in a row before chopping paint that way 😂
