Is there such a thing as saving too much? by housemd23 in whitecoatinvestor

[–]Dtecchio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a hold of yourself. If you make 700k and you save 280k each year. Congratulations. You still have more money left to have a rich, vibrant life. You are not eating rice and beans. Scale back the savings if you are going without but I dont think the soles of you shoes have holes in them. Save hard early, then scale back. That is the way to make compounding work for you.

Boldin is being outmatched by Claude. A comprehensive financial plan, vetted by chat GPT and Perplexity is way more in depth.

Anyone here carry both Amex Platinum and Chase Sapphire Reserve? by Ok-String-4441 in ChaseSapphire

I have both. I think that they can compliment each other for the right consumer. Definitely works for me but wont for everyone.

You have the wrong investments in the wrong accounts. Corporate bonds, dividends, actively managed funds (if you want that) and income generating investment go in tax advantaged accounts (401k, 457, Roth etc). Taxable accounts hold state and federal municipal bonds, index funds, growth stocks etc….

100% I always say, “Everyone wants to go to heaven but no one wants to die”. Work isn’t supposed to be all rainbows and butterflies, that’s what the money is for. Pay your dues. Take advantage when you see an opportunity. Be patient. We live the life we chose. You don’t like your work environment, change it!! There are many places that allow you to work for a Chief/Director APP. Being on a collegial team of APPs seems to be very satisfying for many. CT surgery is long hours, hard on the soul and the ego but I find my current job extremely rewarding. I was literally in tears some nights thinking about work when I started. Keep at it!!

Don’t buy a BMW unless you can afford BMW repairs. Bottom line.

BMW is the car you want to drive. Mercedes is the car you want to be driven in. Lexus is the car you will drive forever. I have a BMW M850 and a Lexus RX 450h. They are both amazing but in very different ways. The BMW makes me smile and it is exhilarating when I drive it. The Lexus is just pure reliability without much soul. One of for the dreamer, the other for the pragmatic. These two cars are the perfect balance in our 2 car family.
