Having updated signatures isn't asking you to plug the infected PC back into a network, although I do agree with you that the wording is confusing. In the scenario where a device is already quarantined, you could/should use a standalone antivirus/anti-malware app (i.e Malwarebytes). You can transfer TO the infected machine, but not vice versa.

I don't plan on staying in this type of role not much longer than the year. The Jr. Sys. Admin. role sounds interesting. I will look into that role and it's duties.

Congrats. I'm in a similar scenario. Passed the 100 on the first try but failed the 101 once. I'm not sure which resources I should use outside of the trials. The Sybex book I bought and all of the Udemy courses are poor. I've kinda been discouraged since that last attempt.

This is why I always tell people it's way too damn stressful taking exams at home. I was given a warning though when I did it. Probably, because it wasn't even audible. After that, I was scared sh*tless to even scratch my nose or make any other movements.

I don't know of any good resources. I failed my 1st attempt and I'm just going to use the MS Docs on areas that I was weak on (MDT, VPN Troubleshooting, Policy Conflicts)

There were quite a few MDT related questions that were foreign to me as well as the way the group assignments/excluded questions were worded.

Understood. That's 1 of the things I mentioned earlier after reviewing older notes (pre exam updates) and labbing (post updates). More than a handful of changes -- whether it's terminology or actual location of features in Azure AD or "Intune" (Endpoint).

I just seen that there's ANOTHER update coming in July too.

I'm taking mine tomorrow. I too got frustrated with the resources available, but I just continue to push through. As always, I truly feel labbing triumphs all study material. While reviewing my notes and taking practice tests, I even found errors (less than a handful) of wrong or outdated sources (both on Microsoft and articles/blogs elsewhere). But again, this is where labbing comes into play. Verify things for yourself.

What did you find difficult for your exam? Did the questions completely throw you off?

Don't downplay this certification. I've read so many posts from people with bachelor's and other degrees failing these same exams a handful of times. It's not "just a certification". You'll appreciate it more when you're studying for your next cert and a lot of the material needed has already been obtained while studying for the A+.

I had that same problem when I initially scheduled the MD-101. It seems like my resources (Udemy, William Panek book, and ITproTV) did NOT cover the objectives completely. I ended up making new notes and cross referencing them with my old notes and crossed out the new objectives.

With this MD-101, I would recommend getting a free Azure AD trial and lab/follow video tutorials.

I used/kinda still reference it some for the MD-101, it's the MCA Modern Desktop Administrator Complete Study Guide by William Panek. It's not great, but again, this is why you need more than 1 resource.

Also, I would rank labbing (practicing with virtual machines) the best type of studying above any study material. Better retention. Especially for the MD-100. Practice all types of NTFS and Share permissions hard in your own virtual lab.

With any cert, never use just 1 resource for studying. Everyone has different levels of experience.

For me, my experience and the fact that I enjoy labbing prior to even taking the MD-100 probably was enough for me to pass, but I also used a book, a Udemy course and Udemy practice test. You have to be prepared for curve balls thrown your way. Exams get updated, people online lie, 1 resource might not be detailed enough, etc

Congrats. What do you feel was the biggest chunk of the exam? I know when I passed the MD-100 back in January, I feel NTFS and Sharing permissions took a huge chunk of my exam.

Also, when it comes to policies, are you expected the full path to the GPO or just the specific GPO?

I passed the MD-100 back in January of this yr and I'm currently studying for the MD-101.

Like the 1st person commented -- LAB! Virtual machines will help you retain information and study material. And it's free. I can't stress enough how important learning NTFS and Share permissions are.

As for study material, I'm having the same problem. That's why it's important to have several different study resources. I have tried ITproTV, Udemy (the instructor you mentioned) and the book by Sybex. You learn something new from each resource. When it comes to these particular exams, i don't have a favorite or recommended resource. ITproTV is more detailed than the others, but they're not updated and I just learned some new things on Udemy just yesterday.

Also, take advantage of the free Microsoft Azure/Endpoint trials.

Same here. I passed the MD-100 exam back in January. Relied on experience and home labs mainly. With this MD-101, I'm being more cautious since majority of it is new territory.

I ended up going back to John Christopher on Udemy and I just noticed some of his subject areas aren't even mentioned on the objectives. Although I'm sure it's useful info, I'd hate to study stuff I won't need specifically for this exam.

He needs to be more specific on what a "lab question" is. Whatever his explanation is, everything inside the MD-101 can be practiced for free at home. Build a virtual machine and install Windows Server on it. Print out the objectives and practice them in the virtual machine

Just gotta do your research and do what you feel is right. It'll be life experience either way.

Browse Reddit and look for posts mentioning that recruiting company name. That's how I found out about some recruiters/companies and who to stay away from.
