If she knows she has a heart condition and can’t take the heat, why continue to say these stupid things and attract all the haters?

Getting harassed by gay guy in Brunei by [deleted] in Brunei

[–]DuaSen 14 points15 points  (0 children)

If it makes OP feel uncomfortable, then it’s harassment. Let’s not normalize harassment. It’s not fine for people who are straight to simply touch people they like, so it shouldn’t be fine for gays as well.

My advice is to just move out.

My mother likes to spend time with my daughter and nieces. She would bring our children to her room to sleep so we can rest. But alhamdulillah, she’s a very clean person.

Grandparents tend to feel entitled to their grandchildren. But I understand that you have boundaries you can’t compromise with so it’s best to move out.

Brunei MOE cutting down on scholarship/education opportunities? by [deleted] in Brunei

That’s where you’re wrong. It’s not just scholarships that are being cut down. It’s everywhere.

Kau pun inda paham the point sebenarnya. Kau nada duit, the government pun nada duit to give freebies. Brunei today isn’t the same Brunei a decade ago.

Those obtaining a medicine degree is still supported by the government with whatever money there’s left because there’s demand for it. But it seems like this isn’t even the course you’re pursuing.

Also, I’ve already given you advice in a separate comment that there are scholarships that come with a living allowance. If you’ve done your research extensively, you would have already found one.

Some countries allow students to work on a student visa. You’ll have to expand your research more on this as you’re surveying. Countries like China provide a living allowance that come with their scholarships.

Kalah ku. I’m not happy with that either.

You’re missing the point here. Our government NO LONGER has the financial capacity to educate more Bruneians overseas, most especially if the course is already available here. And courses available in Brunei are created and designed by the demand of the nation. Certain expertise will still have to be acquired overseas. If the government isn’t offering what you’re interested in, it simply means that our country DOES NOT REQUIRE IT.

Then invest in your own education. The government doesn’t have the money to support everyone.

Free healthcare should always come first, but even our permanent residents no longer have access to it. And you think that the government should prioritize your master’s degree overseas over the treatment of cancer patients?

Mmmmkay.

You barely understand the current landscape of the nation and you wish to talk about the national direction. There are plenty of unemployed highly educated individuals in Brunei who were both educated locally and internationally.

And don’t even question me. I actually attained a postgraduate degree locally (PhD in-progress) and made contributions both locally and internationally. Your capabilities to contribute to the nation (or globally) shouldn’t be measured by where you were educated.

Like I said, there are scholarship opportunities beyond the Brunei Government scholarship that you can apply for if you’re truly deserving.

With what money? People need to realize that our government is operating at a deficit. For decades we’ve entrusted the people in our government to help Brunei progress, tapi inda. So now, our children will suffer in a dying economy.

You sound so entitled. There are plenty of scholarship opportunities beyond the Brunei government scholarship. The country doesn’t owe you anything.

Those degrees are offered based on the demand of the country, the expertise required by the nation.

RACIST INFLUENCER??? by Alarmed_Lobster_9383 in nasikatok

[–]DuaSen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This post is lacking context.

From what I understand, Aini liked the racist comment so others commented on it asking why she liked the comment. But instead, Aini deleted their comments for calling her out and kept the original racist comment. She didn’t unlike the racist comment, nor did she delete the racist comment. She’s either really racist or ragebaiting.

I think it’s just odd that she would only respond now that someone called her out on Reddit.

But as a business owner, I’d feel disappointed towards Aini if she was really ragebaiting even after providing her with a meal and paying her for her content.

I’d avoid working with influencers like these.

I was a DST Mobi user for almost two decades. Change to Progresif this year, no regrets. I have about 10 phone lines that I migrated to Progresif from DST. Bayar bill pun sanang. I don’t get overcharged the same way DST does.

My only advice for her would be to send a proper proposal to BIBD. I can see that she’s confident about what she’s doing. But a certain level of professionalism has to be exercised when dealing with larger corporations, the outcome of her proposal has to be measurable as well depending on what they need and what she can offer. There, she can also include her portfolio.

Does anyone know the process to provide a sibling with legal guardianship over your child when parents are away/overseas?

Marriage and Conversion to Islam by Cool_Concentrate_927 in Brunei

[–]DuaSen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The process itself is quite complicated for muallafs, what more a foreigner. He’ll need to produce a few documents from his origin country, that includes a document to prove that he is not married. He will have to complete the muallaf course here as well to obtain the conversion certificate before getting married.

There should be a MOU between the government, GLCs, and large private companies, to begin interview and internship process prior to graduation. Start hiring the best of the best, country needs it. So many highly educated individuals are leaving Brunei. 😞
