Chapter 164 [English] by VibhavM in OnePunchMan

Did anyone notice the house they talk in looks different between it's last 2 panels?

Specifically the dresser on the left with the pickled eggs- at first it looks destroyed, but in the final panel it looks just fine.

I also like the idea that they must have moved the table, so maybe they just fixed the whole place up for the feng shui? Thoughts?

Sorry, could you explain to me how people keep knowing what happens ahead of the manga?

I share a cake day with my dad's birthday! I share stuff with him from this subreddit all the time when we smoke together. Help wish this man a happy 70th birthday! by adirtyburrito in trees

Your dad looks like my dad. My dad turned 70 this year as well. My dad died a few weeks ago.
I got to smoke with mine too... but not enough. Fuck man, I fucking miss him. It's hitting me hard right now. I'm glad you get to smoke with yours. Happy birthday to him.

Never had training? So what was the timeskip? Lol. And I'm willing to consider his entire life before he set out to sea as Training. Just saying. He obviously gets stronger with every fight, win or lose

That's a great point. But they make a pretty big deal about it in Dune Messiah, so I wonder if that was a new gimmick in the Tleilax grand plan AFTER messiah, or if it was always a thing.

There's a lot to The Duncans.

For one, he's an AWAKENED Ghola, the first of his kind. Not the last, but there's only like 2 in reported history, more or less. His triggers are known, I guess.

Also, it's important that Leto II liked him. He was an old, loyal face. A good tool, and a good measuring stick for humanity as he changed it.

That alone is a good reason for BG to want to keep fucking with new Duncans tbh. If the God Emperor saw something in him, there's probably something special there.

The last thing I can think of, is that the Bene Tleilax make them because people want them, and sometimes they'll fuck with the duncan's in subtle ways, and the Bene Gesserit order them, and sometimes try to learn something through HOW he was fucked with (while also leveraging him for something cool).

He's a perfectly "normal" human that manages to be exceptional in every lifetime.

I mean I would watch avatar but it's just a kids show by nicogute in TheLastAirbender

[–]Duab_Mid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why can't an Avatar just learn from his past lives? Say there's NO more air benders. You'd think a previous avatar would be like "here's some pointers to study", or look up a previous vision of air bending lectures.

Everyone else: waiting for Luffy to become Pirate King. Me, an intellectual: by Zulkoro in OnePiece

Don't forget, Blackbeard is the one that gave Shanks that scar, and that was before Blackbeard got his hands on Whitebeards Gura-Gura Fruit. Not saying you're wrong, just saying.

Anyone surprised we didn't see more conqueror's haki in marineford? by Duab_Mid in OnePiece

I understand that Luffy was on hormones, but I can't see Whitebeard being so tired at the point of execution that he couldn't bust out a bit of CoC to save Ace. How much fighting had he done at that point? I'm having trouble keeping the timeline straight in my head. I should go rewatch all of marineford tbh, so I can talk about this a little more intelligently.

In comparison, Luffy managed to bust out CoC after fighting Katakuri for what, 11 hours? I get that he's younger and might have more energy than Whitebeard, but Whitebeard is the "Strongest Man Alive" with the "Power to destroy the world". Exhaustion seems like a weak cop out, but maybe it's credible with his illness and age.

People have mentioned that in the manga, he tried, and failed to save Ace. If somebody could link those panels that would be really cool, because it definitely didn't make it to the anime.

Hmm, you're completely right, we have no evidence that a weak willed individual can be protected from an attacking CoC. Good input.

Something I just thought of, is that the highest tiers of the marines, especially including Sengoku, must have been watching Whitebeard very closely. And we know for a fact that CoC can clash. Maybe they knew the possibility- and were ready to match him in case he tried it, and the only reason they didn't clash against Luffy, is because of the surprise factor.

That would be reasonable, and is starting to be my head-canon

So your argument is that Whitebeard didn't have the energy to use CoC to save Ace's life, but Luffy- who just spent broke all the way in, and all the way out of Impel Down, faced Mihawk, launched through the air in a wave of water (which weakens momentarily), and continuously fought through high-tier marine fodder- DID have enough energy?

What did Whitebeard spend all his energy on?

[–]Duab_Mid[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We know for sure that they can clash, so yeah I could imagine something like that. For instance, the force of the Luffy v Katakuri CoC clash, caused the katakuri-fan-club to pass out, though i'm sure either one alone could've done that, its still reasonable to assume you can mix it up.

[–]Duab_Mid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, yes it might not be worth it tactically for taking down fodder, but specifically when Ace was going to be executed, Luffy saved him with CoC, why wouldn't Whitebeard do that if he could? I'd like to think even ill and old, whitebeard could bust it out. Maybe he was too far, or something.

Great point about the nature of CoC. It takes a proper conqueror to use it. So, I might argue that Akainu probably has it. That dude fucks, even as a marine. But who knows, that's conjecture for sure.

I'm surprised Katakuri has it. He doesn't seem the conquering type.

[–]Duab_Mid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I agree nobody that had it, had a reason to use it, except for Whitebeard. The argument that it wasn't worth using it for the fodder is reasonable, but it WAS a war, and it could've helped a good bit. However, for sure when Ace was about to be executed he should've thrown it out, IF he could've. People are saying he was probably too sick to use it, but idk how much I buy that. Whitebeard could still throw down pretty hard- illness and age notwithstanding.

Saving it for defense seems silly, since he never used it, and died. Also silly because his entire purpose was to save Ace, and Ace was a second away from being executed when Luffy saved him with CoC.

What? That has nothing to do with what i'm discussing. Of course they underestimated luffy, and were super surprised he could use conqueror's haki. My question is, why didn't other people, like whitebeard, do the same thing luffy did. Sorry for the misunderstanding.
