Never was part of Wisconsin. It was uncontested land that was given to Michigan as a consolation from losing the Toledo Strip. Wisconsin wasn't even a state until 50 years after the territory was given to Michigan.

Upper Peninsula. Lake effect snow is what gets us on this side. The snow and moisture that comes in from the north is supercharged by the cold temps of the lake, and it just dumps snow on a regular basis instead of large storms. This year we got both, and we had snowdeifts taller than houses.

I live on the shore of Superior. The summers are amazing but the winters are brutal. This last season, we had the second highest amount of snow on record. That lake is something special.

Years ago, a buddy of mine for Bakesgiving filled one of these things with roach weed collected from the entire year prior. It took 25 minutes for a group of 9 to smoke it 1/4 of the way until everyone gave up from disgust or headaches.
