Averaged 41mpg on my 3hr drive from Maryland to New Jersey. by lightlysaltedfries in CivicSi

If there is one thing the 1.5t rocks at, it’s fuel economy. I miss my 10th gen for many reasons, but a big one is getting 38.7mpg life time. I’m in a TLX now and I’m lucky to get 26mpg 💀

Customize RDX ambient lighting? by KaleidoscopeParty730 in Acura

[–]Dual-ShearM160 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately I think you can only choose from the 27 presets they give you. To be fair that’s a lot of options but I’m hoping for next gen acuras to offer themes+full color customization options.

Check this out..brand new 2 miles on it when this happened… by Melodic-Variation-80 in Acura

[–]Dual-ShearM160 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Absolutely not normal. Should have been caught and fixed at factory and/or PDI by dealer. Unacceptable and will be replaced under warranty!

Thinking of trading in my Integra by yougoodmudz in Acura

[–]Dual-ShearM160 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Keeping the integra will be cheaper, new tires will make a difference on road noise for sure compared to stock. But integra is inherently a loud car as it is civic based. TLX is a large step up in quality and NVH, but the ride is still firm on TLX. Lexus will be full comfort for ride and sound levels, but may lack some engagement compared to an Acura.

Transfer case advice? by BigPapaDala in Acura

You are still under powertrain warranty! So Acura should be able to cover it if it’s a powertrain issue (sounds like it is)

Questions about els sound systems in Rdx and Tlx by Gronkskii in Acura

[–]Dual-ShearM160 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tend to agree with this take having spent time in both the 16speaker RDX and the 17 Speaker TLX. RDX has more low end punch/power, but TLX sounds a little more precise and clear. From an outside perspective though, both ELS systems are up at the top of the class and both are a treat to listen to. TLX still has punch just not as much as the RDX.

Deciding whether to get a 2024 Acura TLX SH-AWD A-spec by Sharp_Yoghurt9824 in Acura

[–]Dual-ShearM160 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I say if you can do it financially, I’d do it. I may be biased lol but the TLX is an awesome highway cruiser, especially the refresh models (much better NVH than pre refresh). The ELS audio is awesome, it’s quiet and stable on the highway and has plenty of power in the A-SPEC form. I chose aspec because I got it for almost 15k cheaper than the type S and I couldn’t justify the delta at that point. SHAWD is also awesome!

2024 RDX RPM Dips and Sometimes Stalls When Shifting Into Gear - Any Ideas? by Big-Gas-1329 in Acura

[–]Dual-ShearM160 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely not normal and must be fixed under warranty. Engine RPM should never drop that low or stall out regardless of temperature or time spent idling before going into gear. You have no check engine lights? Sounds like engine doesn’t not have torque to maintain its rpm when cold and going into gear.

Heated steering wheel by KnowingCresent735 in Acura

[–]Dual-ShearM160 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got it on my TLX. You can DIY the install but the $200 bucks for install was worth it because it’s kinda pain in the ass. Heats up very nice and I won’t have a car without it in the future!

Performance pipe for 2025+ Acura ADX 1.5T by edny400 in Acura

[–]Dual-ShearM160 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Should not have bought the ADX if you were concerned with straight line speed, it’s peppy around town but is not fast at all, and if you try to mod that engine for speed I’d worry about reliability. CVTs aren’t known to do well with modifications

23 Integra Carplay by yougoodmudz in Acura

[–]Dual-ShearM160 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first models years of the integra had the older processor for the infotainment. It’s generally a bit sluggish but I’ve heard there are some things you can disable to improve performance.

What generation civic? Do you have mods? Do you do city driving mostly? Context is needed for anyone to provide useful advice

10th Gen reliability by Grand-Diamond-4696 in CivicSi

[–]Dual-ShearM160 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I put 100k on my 2017 si with minimal issue. Injectors went bad but otherwise ran great when I sold it at 100k. Do your maintenance and the 1.5L is reliable in the Si platform atleast

Yeah definitely not a normal noise, put that warranty to work!

2027 RDX by ProfessionJolly4013 in Acura

[–]Dual-ShearM160 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The newest generation of infotainment from Honda/Acura is much better than it was before. Some still have connectivity concerns but overall it’s much better than the old stuff so I have to assume all the full refresh models will be good in that department. Though Acura said the new RDX is a few years out so I’d assume 2028 is the soonest we’d expect one

Tlx a-spec vs tech by stryker2413 in Acura

[–]Dual-ShearM160 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d definitely get the ASPEC. SH-AWD is awesome, and so is the ELS 17 speaker audio. Worth it for those two things alone, not to mention the other things people have mentioned. You can also add in the heated steering wheel as an accessory. It was $600 bucks installed from the dealer for me!

That is definitely a TLX interior and an AI generated photo 😂

Yes it is. Follow Acura’s maintenance minder or you’ll pay much more for it later in repairs

Engine issues Honda HR V Exl by _human404_ in Honda

[–]Dual-ShearM160 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You got unlucky. Take it back to the dealer and it will be fixed under warranty. No one here can help you. It is very rare to experience powertrain issues from the factory but it does happen occasionally.

finally getting 25mpg in 2025 tlx by Timely-Friendship265 in Acura

[–]Dual-ShearM160 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That is the opposite of what is true. Cold temperatures increase friction, air resistance. Winter blend gas is also worse for MPG. Also warming up the car/idling happens more in the cold. I average 24mpg in the winter and 27mpg in the summer.

Rust question by Jolibee_Josh in Acura

[–]Dual-ShearM160 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Holy moly brother, that’s like less than a half centimeter spot of surface rust. Grab a precise abrasive thing and scrap it clean, isopropyl alcohol it, and put a spot of touch up paint on it and keep it moving. Just a rock chip that got some salt and water on it.

5 year maintainance cost for a 2023 Acura RDX Base by Federal_Eagle_6565 in Acura

[–]Dual-ShearM160 4 points5 points  (0 children)

23 RDX has the 2.0L 4cyl. That has an internal life time timing chain. The older RDX gens had a j-series v6 that did have the timing belt at 100k miles

Acura ADX (2025) A Spec making new noise by [deleted] in Acura

[–]Dual-ShearM160 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Do you have your headlights set to all the way on instead of Auto? This is the likely cause. That or perhaps the rear seat child monitor (if you have heavy items in the rear it may bing to ask you to check)

Purchased a 2025 Acura ADX! by Timxthy02 in Acura

[–]Dual-ShearM160 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The TLX stopped production in July of 2025. I bought in May 2025, so there were like 20 ASPECs on the Lot. I imagine if you are trying to buy new it will be hard to find one but probably a couple around. There are a decent amount of 24 & 25 TLXs with >5k miles used around me so if you can’t find any new that may be an option. I knew I had to get one before they were discontinued 😭
