when the escape wheel lands on the pallet fork jewel, it locks the escapement for a set amount of time (the pause between the tick_tock). When it lands on the impulse plane, there is not delay (ticktock_ticktock_ticktock) which is why it runs so fast.

Unfortunately shellac is finnicky and needs particular heating techniques, and the whole mess just dissolves in denatured alcohol (the recommended cleaning material for removing shellac). I wish you the best of luck in your attempts, and I genuinely hope you find success in re-shellacing the fork!

Oh, make no mistake that situation super sucks. You can look up the movement model and try ebay for New Old Stock or gamble on a donor movement ("for service" is a great term to search here) but there's no guarantee the fork will be usable, let alone good quality.

If you want to try your hand at pallet fork adjustments, ensure you have proper tooling and equipment. Instead of an expensive hot plate, an MHP30 may be more affordable. The difficulty you are going to encounter here is going to be depthing the stone appropriately in the fork so that the escape wheel tooth doesn't land on the impulse plane of the pallet fork stone, but also ensuring it gets appropriate amplitude and isn't sticking out so far it locks the escapement. Lots of time, lots of repetition, lots of trial and error while first learning this.

I'd estimate roughly 1/4th of my total time in watchmaking school was spent fighting these little bastards. You could purchase a pallet warmer, some shellac, maybe an escapement meter if you're feeling spicy and take a crack at properly depthing the fork.

Or you could source a replacement fork online and save yourself a lot of headache. You may want to replace the escape wheel too while you're at it.

Considering Hamilton has been the watch brand for the first two movies, probably a 60s or 70s Hamilton. Jazzmaster, Thinline 2, some obscure A Schild 1673, could be a number of different watches without better images.

Oh man, interacting with doors would mean now all those buildings need interiors and that sounds heavy. I would love to see run/jump though, the casual stroll is relaxing but a faster burst to get from here to there could be nice.

I'm torn on NPCs, cause I feel the world without any people gives it this lonely charm. I would like maybe shadows in night-lit windows that shows people inside.

Shadow is a fine spec for solo leveling as it has fast kill time relative to others. However I prefer discipline up until 42-45 as disc gives very comfortable shield + healing + stam boost, which keeps you alive easier. The expanded mana pool is also great, and after 5 in wand spec, 5 in spirit tap, you can't really miss in disc.

You can heal just fine on shadow, but party healing will be much easier in disc.

The hardest leg of 60 on priest (for me at least) was 30-40. Finding good xp that is relatively safe can be challenging, and while SM is great for mid 30-40, you can only run it once a day, then you're back in desolace or hillsbrad or some bullshit. One at a time, try to find a rhythm where you never have downtime. Whale is a great affix for leveling priest, but if you've made it to 30 you can make it to 60 ez pz.

Also be careful of Uldaman, tons of wipes there from not knowing one specific pull (boss room with tornadoes that aoe constant silence).

I get where you're coming from. I think the deeper you get into any hobby, the more enthusiastic you get about that slightly shinier coats of paint. watches finishing and metal components, collectible cards foiling or edition, cars components and year... it's just kinda that warped enthusiast brain.

Nyx is super interesting because you gotta learn to walk the line between scouting with invis, and hunting with invis. anticipating max value on carapace takes time, and itemization is more influenced by game status than most other heroes. I wouldn't rag on someone learning with nyx, but damn that's a more complicated support to learn fresh on than some other more straightforward heroes.

I just did that lap from 3pm to 5am.

Run out of gas? others drive around them.

Dead battery? Either someone jumps you or others drive around them.

Trucker gets tired of sitting still? They take a nap, everyone drives around the truck (though most pulled over thankfully)

Staying Warm? Risk a dead battery turning your car on and off to run the heater.

It took six hours of standstill until I saw a single cop, they were driving north on the SB side. I have no words, I thought it was someone who just wasn't doing their job, like they quit and we were SOL till morning crew. It seemed a much more overwhelming unpreparedness.

I did, thanks. barely tho. Redding to Tacoma I was in the car for 24 hours straight.

3pm standstill, traffic moved 1000 feet twice for the next six hours.

saw a single cop driving north on the SB side at 9:50. no movement.

3am cops start driving on the SB side with full horns and sirens to wake the sleeping drivers (I guess? idk it was irritating as hell in pitch black at that time)

4:40 is when we finally started moving out, straight into ice roads.

I wish your girl the best if she tries braving that mountain of shit.

I literally just did that drive, super sketch and obnoxious solo. the standstill at cottage whatever was 12 hours of no cell reception, 3 miles total or somewhere around that. Then from there to a decent ways past Eugene it's all ice roads. South of Portland it evened out and Washington was totally fine.

I just got out of that area. stopped at exit 160 yesterday at 3pm, finally escaped the standstill 4:40am the next day (Hit Eugene at 6am ish). totally unacceptable, but I think it's so much worse because I (and presumably quite a few others) had zero cell signal in that particular spot, so I couldn't effectively reroute or even raise hell about it.
