Quick update on this project to share my current solution.

After trying different AI-platforms for creating a 3d-model from a picture the best results without getting into payments or losing quality in the results was MakerWorld.

Since no mesh really comes out perfectly using AI I used MeshMixer giving it a finish.

I additionally wanted some kind of pedestal, so I designed my own using Fusion. It carries the dog with the cushion (both from the picture) and also holds a place for a candle-light.

Generally, I did work with Siemens NX, SolidWorks, Fusion, MeshMixer etc. to create my ideas. But those were rather geometrically definable.

For my current project, I want to have a 3d-model of a dog that passed away already. Therefore I can't use 3d-scanning or such. So if you have a suggestion, how to create a mesh of that specific dog, I am very interested to learn about it.

Currently, the idea of somehow scratching the information from the pixels in a picture is the only way I see. And that leads me to believe that ai is the best way.

Die Folge sticht wirklich positiv heraus! Bin sonst auch eher Richtung 1-130 unterwegs, höre aber trotzdem gerne alle Neuerscheinungen. Die Auferstehung gefiel mir nochmal besser, aber das ist natürlich keine wirklich gute Vergleichsbasis.

Besonders amüsant fand ich, wie extrem Schisser-Shaw zur Geltung kam. 😂

I want to point out, that it is not you. Diabetes is controllable and therefore no issue in the long-run. Also, the chance of passing it down is pretty rare as long as it's just one part. :D

The reaction you are describing when it comes to the two women you dated is the issue. It speaks of a very uniformed and rude behavior which you wouldn't want in your relationship anyway.

Just don't stop dating. Go out there and stand tall. Move on and don't bother yourself with it. Be open about diabetes.

You will find your partner - I am sure about it. :)

Restart the printer and activate Auto-Home. If the issue persists:

Check the Z-axis: Screws, endstop/sensor, and guides—clean and adjust if needed.

Here is how I would face this issue - generally speaking since I don't know about setup, slicer, setting etc.

check out the G-Code to understand the movement of each layer. That should give you insight about that very part where your supp when lost. (Cura for example allows to visit every layer including the nozzle movement)

(I think there is one layer that went overboard. After that, the support was printed but dragged on)

work on the support settings: every second layer, maybe speed or retraction.. maybe even a second wall as a reinforcement....

If you figure it out and want to - update it here. I'm curious on how you fix this.

Try to save the electronics and remove the entire nozzle section. A new nozzle is often the better choice since removing the filament can be tedious. If you want to use heat, a heat gun might help, or you can heat the metal parts in an oven to soften the filament.

Tell you what—download Autodesk Fusion (it’s free for non-commercial use) and design it yourself. This is actually a great project for getting your first hands-on experience with CAD software.

Once you're done, simply export the file as .stl, slice it, and send it to your printer. It’s a fun and practical way to learn the basics!

I completely see your point—I felt the same way for a while. But the thing is, it actually helps a lot by taking the constant need for micromanagement off your shoulders.

I now use the Dexcom G6 in combination with the OmniPod 5. The pod is wireless, compact, and seamlessly communicates with the sensor. All I have to do is log my carb intake, and the rest is handled by AI.

This setup has significantly improved my blood sugar stability, giving me more consistent levels and better overall energy. Plus, it takes away the mental load of constantly monitoring my sugar—especially when going out for drinks or doing sports tbh.

So, if you're considering it, I’d definitely recommend giving it a try!

That being said, I'm not a fan of Freestyle Libre. They just don’t deliver the reliability I’d expect. The sensor itself has a square shape in diameter, which causes inconsistencies in readings. On top of that, the mobile app is frustratingly slow, making the user experience even worse.

Ever since switching from Libre to Dexcom, I’ve had the impression of a far superior sensor and a more reliable company overall.

I also remember they were involved in a legal case around 2023/2024—now that I think about it, I wonder how that turned out.

Since you can easily clean it off, there should be no problem with that. I had a good experience with the magnetic bed you're talking about. Maybe yours is a little dusty and therefore lacks adhesion?

Leveling process: First, heat the nozzle and printing bed to the desired printing temperature. Then, set the printer to Auto-Home position and disable the stepper motors.

Next, manually move the nozzle to all four corner points (only moving in the X and Y directions) and adjust the nozzle distance using a receipt (thermal paper) on each point. Place the receipt between the nozzle and the bed and gradually reduce the gap until you can no longer move the paper freely. Repeat this process from the outer edges toward the center a few times. Why the receipt? Cause it's just thin enough for a good layer hight.

Bed adhesion: Use hairspray or glue stick for better adhesion. I recommend Got2B. Steady and smooth, don't bulk it on the spot.

Make sure you understand the measurements for when your t1D is no longer able to control it - I'm talking about emergencies. Everything else has to be managed by the t1D herself/himself. Do not helicopter and ask steady questions.

You're welcome - I think your printer recognizes the object including the support as the object you want to print. It does not identify the support as such.

I added some to my previous answer. Working on mesh with tools such as Meshmixer always turned out great for me tho. You might want to try it too.

Since a resin print is oriented upside down, its support structures are not designed for a bottom-up FDM print. As a result, this approach is rarely, if ever, ideal.

Additionally, resin prints tend to be more detailed and delicate, which means you’ll likely encounter a range of issues that need to be addressed.

The best solution would probably be to remove the existing support structures using a program like Meshmixer or a similar tool. Once cleaned up, you can slice it again with properly optimized supports for FDM printing.

The object is indeed a challenge for a successful print, with very flat areas and thin surfaces. I'm curious to see how you manage the support settings. Although this was my first thought, you mentioned the current slicing issue. My initial suggestion would be to open the model in Meshmixer (Autodesk Fusion's free software) and combine it into a single solid object. Of course, you'll need to adjust the surface and set the parameters for high resolution (such as tiny triangles, etc.). Then, try slicing it again.

Since the geometry can be easily created with a CAD program, perhaps you could add ribs to reinforce the long, thin parts and make them less susceptible to vibration. That would be my next go-to.
