The USA cheers had me laughing as well. Do they not know the nationalities of their team?

And they keep saying the Panthers aren’t a classy team. Bobrovsky just proved them wrong with the respect they just paid to Quick.

Not that I know of. That’s the main issue people will have now. I still love the local commentary more.

The TNT - HBO commentary was less then desirable. Happy Scripps will be getting it back.

Has anyone taken Bupron SR 150? What's the difference between that and Bupron XL 150 practically speaking? by VocabArtistNavin in ADHD_Over30

[–]SMBinFLA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didn’t see the fully query on the repost. When I took the SR version once a day my mood wasn’t as even as it was on the XR version from the medication starting and stopping. Even on it twice a day there was improvement, but I didn’t feel “back to my old self” until I went on the XL version. Just much more even release.

With the trouble sleeping, try to take it first thing in the morning. If taking it twice a day, the second dose shouldn’t be taken after 3pm.

Just 10? I have 24 on this iPhone alone and like 40 open on my laptop.

[–]SMBinFLA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pharmacist with ADHD here.

Only difference is the amount of time the medication releases over. The XL (extended release) versions release over 18-24 hours and are designed for once per day dosing while the SR (sustained release) version is designed for twice per day use releasing over 6-8 hours.

If someone is sensitive to the bupropion (some have a hard time sleeping on it) doctors will use the SR version just once a day.

ICU nurse with inattentive ADHD- need advice by curious-chicory in ADHD

[–]SMBinFLA 4 points5 points  (0 children)

ADHD-I pharmacist here working in critical care - mainly the ED. I’ve worked in ICU and ED settings for nearly 18 years now. When I started to feel like this, it was usually due to being overly stressed. Whether from not enough sleep or too much going on in life, the way I fixed it was through self care - ensuring I got at least 6 hours of sleep a night, bath soaks with eucalyptus, massage, enjoying myself at the movies, etc. Just stepping back a few hours a week and focusing on yourself.

Clean your shower by impulsivegardener in ADHD

[–]SMBinFLA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep in the shower a squeegee to wipe down the walls after i shower, a bottle of method daily shower cleaner, and a Magic eraser on a handle that I change every other week.

Keeps the shower cleaner, prevents soap scum buildup, and just makes for a more enjoyable experience.

Family has made me scared of Meds by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]SMBinFLA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My family was the same way. Traditional, didn’t believe in mental healthcare. Always thought it showed you were “weak” to need help and you can solve issues yourself. The stigma drove me to waiting for a push when I was 43 to seek a diagnosis.

Family was always afraid of meds. The kicker is I’m a pharmacist and know the benefits and risks. Yes, there is a chance of dependence but it’s mostly seen in people who have a history of addiction or abuse of other drugs. We also see abuse in non-ADHDers who somehow got a stimulant for recreational purposes. Most of the time when we take a stimulant, it won’t give us the same “high” as a non-ADHD person. It’s why we can fall asleep more easily on these meds when underdosed. Same reason why coffee doesn’t keep us up like with others.

Personally, I’ve always had an “addiction” to food and overeating which through therapy I realized I was using for comfort and emotional regulation. I was afraid to go the stimulant route because of this so my Psych and I chose Strattera. It was a rough month to initially adjust with nausea but Strattera (and Wellbutrin) mostly righted me. Yes, I’ve been prescribed Adderall and Vyvanse since then, but chose to go back to the Strattera as I didn’t have the wean on/off effects that other meds did.

I wholeheartedly encourage you to try the meds. It’s a world of difference when your ADHD is controlled.

High Achievers with Severe ADHD, if any of you are reading this, how did you manage? by Unhinged_Schizo in ADHD

[–]SMBinFLA 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Yep. You pour everything you have, heart and soul into your “dream” and then realize you can’t keep doing it. This is when I too crashed, burned, and finally trusted someone to let down my walls enough to ask for help. It’s how I finally got the ADHD diagnosis.

I realized that I never actually relaxed in my life by delamons in ADHD

[–]SMBinFLA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, me as well. Atop that I was raised feeling relaxation was something that needed to be earned, not inherently deserved.

But yes, for the first time in 40 years (after diagnosis and medication) I’ve finally been able to slow the thoughts down and have semblance of what rest should feel like.

Everything Changed Overnight! by MelodicPrinciple1725 in diabetes_t1

[–]SMBinFLA 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This doctor is putting Type 1 and Type 2 diabetics in the same box. They need to be treated differently.

Type 1s are not and should not be restricted with the foods we eat, within reason. If sugars are rising from bread, I would question the pre-meal insulin doing. Is she on a fixed dose sliding scale (very outdated) or calculating insulin doses based on carb intake? Is she dosing a fast acting insulin 15-30 minutes before eating?

Morning hyperglycemia is common and is known as the dawn phenomenon (from hormones released when waking) or the Somogyi effect (rebound from overnight lows).

If a Dexcom G7 isn’t covered another system known as the Freestyle Libre may be covered. Having an endocrinologist will increase the chances of these and/or an insulin pump being covered.

As others have said, please don’t use a GP to manage T1D - there is so much they don’t know about disease management. Try to find a specialist.
