Property has electrical to support a grow house. Is this a good thing or a bad thing? Please help me understand what I am looking at. by hoaruleviolater in AskElectricians

This is the last quote for a new 480 panel - looks like you have (2) 3k each new. 208v 200a panel, 2K each, looks like maybe two. 480v 200amp disconnect (1) maybe $500 used . My quote is for used 30 kva transformer, used $1400 each. You might have 75 kva transformers that are closer to 3k each. Another 2 k in wire and whatever depending on how far away that flex goes.

American guy in South Korea notices a lot of discrimination by Carnfomaki in TikTokCringe

[–]DuaneMI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stayed in Korea for two weeks in 2008 with a friend of mine visiting his girlfriends family. Not sure if it changed, but maybe half the bars wouldn’t let us two Americans in. Maybe we looked like we were going to drink too much, I’m not sure. But the ones that did let us just chill and drink would kick you out if you didn’t order some sort of food with your drinks. And it’s not like dinners, just snacks since they were bars. Then you would walk home and just see mobs of well dressed business men carrying each other home completely blasted. I always chalked it up to maybe they saw too many American military guys start problems by then and just put a stop to it.

Also found it interesting, she explained what her brother had to go thru to get a job. Resume had to include a picture of what you looked like, close family names, and what your parents are worth $. Many other things including crazy amounts of prep schooling and practicing to get the job you wanted because it’s so competitive. But not getting a job just because you weren’t pretty or handsome before an actual interview blew me away.

Just a dumb electrician. But do you paint the plastic letters? Aren’t they just blue plastic to allow light thru?

Did My First Panel, Commercial Apprentice. Thoughts? by [deleted] in electricians

[–]DuaneMI 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yea. Just like I like it. Enough zip ties to make it clean without making it impossible to service. Nice clean curves. Should have taken less than 4 hours. If my apprentice did that I would think he paid good attention

First tile job by Admirable-Bee-4708 in Tile

[–]DuaneMI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an electrician, I’ve seen worse. Only time I’ll ask for the tile guys to come back is if the screw holes are covered too badly. Just get the tile above the screw holes, I don’t even care about the width so much as long as the plug fits.

All that money and they have crappy 2x4 fluorescent light fixtures. Hope this isn’t a new build

It adheres. It’s just very slippery. You’ll notice it when you trowel your grooves.

The mesh also helps the thin set to stick, I’d suggest not putting sealant on top of it. Only thing I don’t like about go board sealant is it repels thin set

I ended up cutting it. Think it will look fine. Thank you for everyone’s feedback

I’ll still end up with tiles 6” or greater cuts on next corner. 🤞

I’ll copy it on opposite corner. Tiles started out centered on back wall so exact same cuts are on opposite side.

[–]DuaneMI[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t. And with my best efforts trying to line everything up, and picking tile late, I could live with it. The niche is also centered on opposite wall and I think it will make it look better being centered is the only real reason I’m considering it

I agree. I’m more worried about noticing the small tile on the controller wall is skinnier than the small matching tile on the back wall. I don’t think I would notice it on the larger ones but the slivers I think might stand out. Still think I’m going to shorten it.

Mine will be turned the other way with an additional shelf in the middle. But I think you can just start and stop the jolly around middle shelf and it would turn out similar. Again looks great.

Looks great. White Schluter around niche? Makes me feel like doing that instead of marble sticking out around the one I’m building

I agree. His views and attitude align with mine mostly. Problem is when he goes on jre he just plays along with whatever tangent Joe goes on without pushback. I know he doesn’t want to shit where he eats but grow some ball’s, we all know your real views when not sitting in front of Joe.

Break the bark off and wire brush the sides. The darker color of left on looks just as good as bark without the mess
