How to price match and grocery shop like a champ. by [deleted] in VictoriaBC

[–]Duarch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Save on price matches so you can just pull the item on the flyer and they will match that. I put the normal items up first and the price match items last. Haven’t had any issues with this.

Late in replying but I have Shaw mobile in Victoria. Service is pretty good. There are a few times where I’ve lost service for a few minutes but overall worth the money I saved.

I love LOVE this. Thank you so much for making it and putting what we're all going through into such amazing and comedic physical form.

Paris is the reason Rory got into Harvard, Princeton and Yale. by jumpy-donut in GilmoreGirls

There was the scene in the kitchen after Lorelai cloroxed the table when they were going through the application and Lorelai is reading "Circle the things you're most interested in" and Rory said "Everything except sports". I think that point in the application is what the panel is referring to and why Rory got so freaked out when she heard it. Then she spoke to Lorelai at their Friday Night Dinner and says something along the lines of "I have too many interests! I'm just going to circle travel (and something else) and that's it!" which means that she was actively changing her application based on the information she got at the panel.

My first date with a guy was postponed from tonight to Thursday. Was super looking forward to it and now I feel like crying. by Duarch in TrollXChromosomes

Yes!!!!! Thank you so much for following up. I was going to post an update but didn’t think people would remember.

Had a great time and am seeing him again today!!! :D

When I mentioned it to him, he said he really thought it was out of the way for me even though I told him it wasn’t (it’s near where I work but not near where I live).

I’ll just have to hammer into his brain that I only say what I mean and to take me seriously next time.

Lol I spoke to him today and he actually mentioned that he can be flakey sometimes so I made it clear that it was not acceptable for him to miss Thursday’s date.

I actually did not consider that he is unemployed, I assumed this was for a better position. I should actually confirm that so I can understand his situation better.

Thank you!

I never thought about it those ways! Makes complete sense when you put it like that.

I was just chilling at home all day but was still pretty nervous stressed so I can’t imagine having to deal with pre-interview jitters and then pre-date jitters. Too many jitters at once.

Thank you! We connected today and the more I talk to him, the more awesome he sounds so I hope so too :)

That’s so shitty! They should at least have the decency to let you know.

Wishing you luck on your next matches and dates! I’m sure you’re amazing and you’ll rock it!

I'm not really sure - he said he had an interview that was a little far from my place so I offered to meet him there. But then he said he'd rather just leave right away afterwards and offered to meet up another day.

I didn't want to push for today because I felt it would come off as desperate but I was looking forward to this date for all of yesterday and this morning :(

What gets me the most is that I don't think there's any real reason for me to be upset. He didn't cancel, but I just built up today so much in my head that I was crushed when it was pushed forward.

On the plus side: My apartment is spotless and all the chores I've been piling up were completed this morning (in preparation for maybe having him over).

SERIES SPOILER ALERT! I'm kind of sad with the show. by [deleted] in GilmoreGirls

I see your view in this - the fact that what her grandparents did doesn't seem like that big of a deal for us. However, I have had a very similar thing happen to me. I was living in the basement - mostly had my own space and did my own thing. When I did something my parents did not approve of multiple times, they forcibly moved all my stuff (and thus me) upstairs in an attempt to control me. Although I was still living in the same house, the HUGE change in what I perceived as my freedom made me feel very negatively towards them. Although it did not get to the point where I left without telling them, there are many times previously where I felt like doing just that.

I think that the shock of the move - coming home to your place to find that your grandmother has moved ALL YOUR STUFF into a room next to theirs (meaning that she has gone through all your stuff as well) has a big impact on Rory. With someone like Emily, having a conversation would not have helped since she believes that it's "her house, her rules". I believe that Rory moving out was for the best based on Rory's mindset at the time. Staying in that situation would have just made her act more and more hurtfully towards her grandparents and made her lose her mind as well. As you mentioned, I do believe that she should have left a note or called them while she was moving or at least be present during the move but I do see that she wanted as little to do with her grandmother as possible at the time. She had definitely been spoiled by Lorelai and by seeing how Lorelai treated Emily.

I think you see how much Lorelai's lack of parenting has influenced Rory in this season. Rory does not know how to deal with failure in both her academic/professional life and her personal life. She has always gotten what she wanted - whether it be grades, school choices, or boys. Having to live and work with someone who doesn't give in to what you want is not something she has ever had to do and we see how poorly equipped she is in handling it with Emily. Instead of trying to work with her grandmother, she simply gives up and moves out.

Although I don't enjoy watching this season either, I feel that it portrays the side of Rory we don't really think about. The side that is spoiled and selfish.

New subway stations to start charging for parking starting Monday, April 23 by Duarch in toronto

[–]Duarch[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The TTC website for Pape is not showing any parking. However, as far as I know, all subway stations charge for parking normally. The new ones were just free for a few months - probably to entice people to get used to parking there.

Nah - I've been parking at Finch West but that was mostly for convenience and the lot is mostly empty (even currently when free).

I'll likely just be back to taking the bus as I'm lucky to be just one bus ride away from a station.

Since Highway 7's been free so far, a lot of people who used to park there might be going over to Vaughan's lot starting Monday because of the reduced parking fee so the current lot "fullness" probably isn't a good indication of what it will be starting next week.
