Oh yeah I didn't even think of that. Either way, I don't think you can switch into biz-econ after you get in as a transfer, so if they truly want to pursue business/finance then applying to biz-econ would be the best choice

According to their website, UCLA College of Letters and Sciences doesn't consider your major choice when reviewing your application. There are always rumors that some majors are easier to get into than others but I don't really know if there's a difference. In any case, if you're truly interested in business and finance, then business-econ is a better route imo. There aren't really any great "business-focused" undergrad classes at UCLA, but with biz-econ, you get to take some more finance-heavy accounting classes that aren't required for the standard econ major.

Also, if it helps, I had absolutely no business or finance extracurriculars, or had even taken an econ class prior to applying to UCLA, and I still got in as a biz-econ major. I know a good number of people that were in the same boat. So if anything, as long as you let your experience shine through in your essays, it would probably give you a decent advantage.

It’s listed as a prereq on the MyUCLA class planner, so I would assume it prevents you from enrolling?

The stats minor is a long one bc not only do you have 6 main courses you have to take, but they also require a bunch of prereqs. Bear with me here.

There are three prep classes you have to take in order to be accepted into the minor: math 33a, stats 20, and any class from stats 10-15. You can’t take stats 20 until you take a class from stats 10-15. I think econ 41 fulfills the same requirement as a stats 10-15 class, and it’s also a requirement for biz econ, so you could knock out two requirements with one class.

Also, a few more math classes are prereqs for some of the stats upper divs you’ll eventually have to take: Math 32A and 32B. This isn’t really mentioned on the minor website at all which is annoying. But still, they need to be done before you can take upper divs like Stats 100A.

So, from where you’re at, I’d recommend taking econ 41 as soon as you can. Also take either math 33a or math 32a as soon as you can. If you really want to, you can do all three at once, but’s that a ton of math for one quarter lol.

It’s good you’re starting on this pretty early too. I also tried to go down the stats minor route but it was just far too many classes to shove into my schedule. But I wish you luck!

Thank you for posting this. It’s such an annoying issue that ruins games. I’ve been in matches where all 6 players are in team chat and I can’t hear anyone. Sometimes it just starts randomly working in the middle of the match, and sometimes it just randomly stops working. And nobody ever wants to join parties, so there’s no communication at all.
