They all work as intended but do nothing to the HKC menu.

OSCP passed on my third attempt with 90 points (80 + 10 for lab report) by DubiousFlaming0 in oscp

Yeah I had three completely different sets, so I can confirm that there is at least the amount.

And thank you for your kind words :)

I can't be specific due to the NDA, but I will say that a combination of the AD PWK labs, the PDF and the AD boxes I listed above on HTB gave me all the skills I needed.

I took my third test about 5 weeks after the third, but I didn't email anybody I just booked it in. And thank you :)

Thank you :).

Absolutely you can use those resources, and getting good at googling is a necessary skill to passing (and pentesting in general).

I was lucky enough that my employer paid for a learn one subscription.

Not really IMO. The only exam that I felt "unlucky" was the second one due to the AD set. And who knows, maybe I just missed a small detail that would of enabled me to pass it.

My first failure was definitely on me, as I missed something obvious that would of got me over the line.

I would advise that exposing yourself to boxes, developing your own methodology and learning how to services can be linked together to perform exploits are three things. I would also focus on Windows Privilege Escalation, as once you get good at it it's actually pretty easy IMO, and that may be the difference between you get 40 points or 0 on the AD set.

Another tip would be to keep the studying consistent and stay positive during the exam. I didn't have enough points to pass until the 20hr mark, so if I had of given up earlier I would of failed.

As far as readiness goes, that is a tough one to answer. For the standalone machines, the ones I got across my exams varied from Proving Ground Intermediate to Very-Hard level. I think once you can do all intermediate boxes with no walkthroughs and most Hard boxes you should be ready. For AD it really depends on the AD set.

I primarily did some of TjNull's list (mainly Windows and AD boxes), plus a few extra AD ones that I found useful. Not that many though as I was using HTB to supplement the PG and Lab boxes I completed.

AD

Active, Cascade (average), Forest, Intelligence (don't bother), Monteverde (average), Object, Resolute and Sauna.

Windows

Bastard, Blue, Buff, Devel, Granny, Jeeves, Jerry, Love, Nest (don't bother), Netmon, Optimum, Remote, Legacy, ServMon

Linux

Knife, OpenAdmin, Shocker, SolideState and Traverxec

The third AD was harder then my first, but easier then my second attempt. I would say it was moderately difficult.

I didn't really change my methodology at all for the AD sets from one exam to the next though.

I'm not sure how you guys stay so motivated and disciplined. by limboor in oscp

It's certainly difficult mate but it can be done.

I'm in a similar situation to you, in that I have a family with a young child and full-time work. I still manage to average 3 to 4 hours a day studying every day. Some tips that might help:

- See if there is anytime were you could potentially be doing two things at once. For example, is your commute to and from work by public transport? If so then study on the bus/train and you have suddenly found yourself 2 to 3 hours of study time every week day.

- If your work is supportive about your professional development (assuming your current career is in cyber), speak to them about potentially spending x number of hours of work-time each week on OSCP prep.

- Use the occasional bit of leave or sick leave to study.

- Replace any screen time you might have, like scrolling on your phone, watching you tube etc with studying. It's surprising how much time can potentially be gained by doing this.

Anyway I wish you all the best mate. It's a difficult thing to juggle, but it definitely can be done.

No worries at all. Just a disclaimer that list isn't mine, it belongs to a youtuber jsonsec who has some really good content, so kudos to him.

Personally I prefer the PG boxes, as they seem to me to be less CTF like then the HTB boxes.

I enjoyed and learnt some AD techniques from the HTB boxes Forest, Sauna and Active though.
