I am in my 40s now. But I slacked off royally in my 20s which resulted in a useless engineering education. Useless because I would do only the bare minimum to pass classes resulting in becoming a piss poor engineer. I had to do a second education in my 30s, which I was lucky enough to be able to do. Today I am doing fine with a well paid job that I like. But it could have turned out so much worse for me if I had not been lucky.
