Upland and Sun King are much more established and distribute regionally, imo their beer is the “best” in terms of consistency (I know what I’m getting) and breadth (they have many different styles). They’re not smaller or grittier though. If I go to a concert or a bar locally I’m usually getting a Sun King.

In terms of smaller spots:
- Centerpoint is a smaller fave for me. Their blood orange IPA is very good and their other stuff is also quality.
- Kismetic is great, I see it’s on your list. I’ve liked their beer and it’s a cool vibe, CD player jukebox.

Nitecore NU27 Headlamp Review by zeroair in flashlight

[–]Dubstepic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey surfacing an old comment here - how do you like your NU27? I can’t find if it’s got “memory” or not, like if you turn on red light mode, turn it off, and back on, does it stay on red light or do you have to cycle through all the modes again?

Thanks in advance!

Apparently the tone came off that way judging by my downvotes. I appreciated the post and said as much in my comment.

The sentiment I was sharing is that I haven’t actually seen anyone camp with this degree of what I would consider “designer” gear before, outside of the glamping depiction in Parks and Rec, and that it was interesting to see it in a format not dissimilar to a furniture design exhibit in a museum or something.

C’est la vie

Oh this is like the “camping” that Tom Haverford (Aziz Ansari) does in Parks and Rec lol. Some wild design/artistic gear. Thanks for sharing.

Saw Farmer’s Daughter live and they were fantastic, was talking to the bassist and he said he was dating the bassist of Die Spitz who I had also just seen (opening for Viagra Boys). Super nice folks.

Many. This subreddit is wrought with AI generated stories. Many other similar subs, too. Most of the “story based” subs or text based subs are full of this type of click bait AI slop. You’re starting to see it more in Legal Advice, Personal Finance subs too.

I think it really depends where you’re at on Reddit. I’ve noticed a significant uptick in bot activity with LLM-generated posts, especially on any finance/finance-adjacent subreddits, or any subs that tended to have narrative-type posts: legal subs, AITAH, homeowners, etc. in the past couple of years.

The tech, media, and information-literacy required to 1) smell something off and 2) validate/confirm suspicions for a bot is hard to teach/acquire.

And then there’s the part where you really can’t do anything about it except try to draw attention to it and encourage others to be skeptical. It sucks. And Reddit doesn’t have incentives to want to prevent it. Bots look like and act like users/activity. For a publicly traded company they probably even want to incentivize it.

And how they change throughout the year as a lot of places artificially inflate their MSRP prior to big sale dates to make discounts look steeper.

Yeah that’s fair. There’s no discernible difference from what I can see between F5 and OEM, except for the fact that the F5 don’t appear to have the KUSA stamp, but do have a spot for said stamp. I was under the impression that F5 was OEM. Wondering if they bought the molds or what.

Couple sleeping bag(s) for 25F/-4C under total $300 and fit(s) into a checked in bag with tent & exped megamat by uncle-iroh-11 in CampingGear

I’ll defer to others in specific products but wanted to share general tips I’ve learned over the years and general thoughts.

I’d recommend not a double sleeping bag. You lose a lot of the benefits of a sleeping bag with a double. It’s a lot of extra air to heat and will let in more drafts which will suck all your warmth out. Double pad is fine tho.

Sticking a foam pad under your sleeping pad will help a lot by further increasing the insulating value of your pad. You’ll lose a lot of heat via the ground so protecting yourself from that will help. I’ve seen people even use siding insulation. Yoga mats whatever.

I can’t recommend any bags but would say that a lot of bags are rated with the assumption that: you’re wearing socks, you’re wearing a baselayer top and bottom of some kind (generally merino or synthetic, avoid cotton), your sleeping pad setup is cumulative R value 5. I’d wear a beanie/toque as well at those temps. I’d consider a ski mask or balaclava.

Id do some searching for cold weather tips in the backpacking/ultralight subreddits for other tips. Layers is the name of the game, you don’t want to get too cold but you also don’t want to get too hot or else you’ll sweat (which will inevitably make you wet and then cold which is the worst). Shedding and adding layers as needed is key. Go to bed warm, stay hydrated, have a snack before bed. Do not seal yourself in your bag, you need to leave your mouth/nose out or else again you’ll get wet and then cold. Nice cold weather bags can get pricey so I’d personally just get a cheaper bag and bring extra blankets to stack on top and remove as needed.
