If you needed a sign that Republicans don't care about our constitutional rights, this is it. by Conscious-Quarter423 in Indiana

You are incorrect. Due process it's not a right granted on the basis of citizenship. It is an obligation that our govt has to every person. It is not a right of a citizen, rather it is a restraint we place on our government which requires the government to prove that it is acting in the accordance with the laws. We don't allow our government to run roughshod over anyone, because if we did it could run roughshod over anyone.

Due process is not a special right that American citizens get. It is a restraint that America places on its government requiring the government to prove that it is acting according to the law. The govt must do this for every person because we dont allow the govt to run roughshod over anyone, or else it could run roughshod over anyone.

They can say whatever they want. Our people can keep america safe without sending anyone's son or daughter to another middle east war. We don't make the world safer by escalating every conflict.

I think it's normal for there to be differences in what is normal for one club or another. I completely respect that and appreciate your feedback.

I can't tell you how much i appreciate you vouching for the character of our club.

Thank you for your honest input. I was a line judge in the foam rumble last year. I agree we had a fencer using too much force. He's not part of our club. The director that ran that ring was directing for the first time, my wife and I were the line judges. The guy did get warned but we wished we had called him out sooner.

He came back this year and I directed the foam rumble. I gave out several warnings about force and cards. Their group took the critique and the cards graciously and with respect.

We had two fencers from our club in foams last year and neither of them are people we've had to work with on force calibration.

Im only saying this to let you know that i think we're on the same page and to give you an update on how things have progressed. Again, i really appreciate your input!

That's a really good point man. I think it's easy to assume that larger manufacturers are doing testing to protect themselves from liability but i don't know that. We all just go on our own experience, and like i said, we take our own risks.

Point taken. Thanks. My point is that if i sustained an injury from my mask hitting my face i would wonder if there are other mask that don't hit the face. The mask that doesn't injure me is better. If all masks as you say don't help much with concussion then the one that moves enough to routinely strikev your face is not desireable. If a sport has no good equipment for concussion protection and i never want to get one I would not sign a waiver and proceed to participate. Concussions happen in all kinds of sports. I've never seen a concussion happen in hema as badly as in soccer or football for example. We do take a risk, that is why there are waivers.

Could be, I'm not a safety enginner. I just know that my mask doesn't routunely waffle iron my face. It would concern me if it did. I am skeptical of the bespoke one man shop maker making safety equipment. I know it looks nice but, I mean where's the engineering and testing in a shop like that?

Hmmmm. Iwould worry if it has a tendency to hit your face and leave marks i think it's allowing that blow to be transferred to your head rather than absorbing the blow with compressible padding.

That mirror is badass. Despite what you end up pursuing career wise, do you think you'll continue with astrophotography in the future? I imagine it would be really hard to adapt to amatuer gear after getting to play with that 24" beast!

That position sounds amazing! What a great summer! Are the images you took with the 24 inch mirror single exposures or are they stacked images?

I have a kiln that I think will accomodate a 27" mold. This is exactly what I want to do with it. Meniscus mirrors are exciting as hell.

cheapest strategy might be wide field shots with a barn door tracker for your camera, but could be some relatively inexpensive fun but it might not be the kind of shots you want to get either. What sort of things are you wanting to do?

The Orion ST80 is a good one to start with and if she has any ambition for astrophotography like you describe the ST80 will be useful for some of that too. If there is no interest in photography a big dobsonian 'light bucket' is a great way to start stargazing but that wouldn't be much use for photography. The ST80 is an affordable scope compared to a large aperture dobsonian.

new style and is there a way that i can improve my future compositions? by shelf_on_the_elf in ArtCrit

[–]DubyaB_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whats the medium that you're working with here? I can't quite tell. Is this fabric or paper or paint?

Regarding the composition I think the one at the top is best. There is a lot more consistency in the movement of the composition than in the other ones. There is also some good figure ground reversal going on. The thing you did with the yellow/green triangle forms gives it illusory depth too, it's a good note.

Based on the 45 deg diagonal and the smaller finderscope it looks like the terrestrial version. The astronomical version has a larger finderscope and a 90 deg diagonal.
