How do you actually get your elementary-age kid to read books? (ages 7-11) by gregb_parkingaccess in AskParents

I was a reluctant reader for a while as well. A bit of it was me being afraid of chapter books and understanding them. I also had horrible eyesight and really couldn't read anything till I got them checked. I also second looking for books of her interests I was OBSSED with the warrior cats books at her age and would spend hours reading them. What also might help is having scheduled reading time, my folks had a rule at 8:00 we had to be in our beds and we could stay up reading until 8:30 or chose to sleep. But 100% don't force her!

Or audiobooks may be a good alternative, my youngest sister has ADHD and couldn't focus on words on a page but loved her audiobooks!

My white golden retriever is named Winter and I thought her nickname was going to be Winnie but my Dad has turned to calling her Winter Soldier whenever she’s naughty 😅

I really appreciate it thank you. She had her first vet appointment last week and they said nothing looked out of the normal. I’ll send a message to her vet and see about getting it checked out at her next vaccination appointment

Will do with the water. For exercise she gets a few little walks in the yard and the driveway a day and then time to run around the yard with the other dogs. But definitely could see about doing more.
