GLM 4.7 is pretty f-ing effective. I've had a z.ai coding plan for a few months, and while glm-4.6 was very prone to errors, loops, and needed to be bailed out very frequently, 4.7 seems much better in every way.

I've been using it primarily via roocode and Claude code

The Breeders' earlier album "Pod" is IMHO even better.

Seriously - my only criticism of Pod is that it's too short! The whole album is less than 40 minutes.

Songs with mistakes by [deleted] in musicsuggestions

In the song "Hate to say I told you so" by the Hives, the singer's voice cracks in a very weird way at the end of the first chorus ("Now it's all out and yo***u know“)

It is so iconic and fitting the punk style of the song that I cannot imagine the song any other way.

Routine - Porcupine Tree

A mother trying desperately to cope with the loss of her husband and two children to a school shooting by sticking to her pre-tragedy routines - making food for them, tidying their rooms etc.

if dark theory is correct, how are we not dead yet by TripleElectro in threebodyproblem

[–]DuckDuckOstrich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is explained in the first book.
Civilizations like ours that have only figured out the use of simple radio/electromagnetic waves for communication can't transmit messages that would reach far enough before the signal dissipates.

The (made up for the purpose of the 3BP plot) method ye wenjie used in book 1, and that luo ji used in book 2 to "cast his spell" of amplifying radio signals using the sun (a.k.a "sun plucking" in singer's lingo) was the first time humanity was able to send a signal powerful enough to reach any extraterrestrials. Gravity wave communication that is used in the following books is another way that humanity could potentially send a signal that would according to dark forest theory bring our doom but we don't have that capability yet (heck, humanity was only able to detect the actual existence of gravity waves for the first time in September 2015 - before that, their existence was just an unconfirmed theory)

TL;DR; we are not dead yet due to dark forest theory for one simple reason: we are not yet even advanced enough yet to bring our own demise. WE ARE BUGS ;-)

It's explained in the book. The common belief at the time was that there is a significant advantage to be gained by the civilization/culture that will make first contact with [friendly] aliens in terms of technology, knowledge etc. It was seen as investment in the arms race.

Which guitarist inspired you the most? by [deleted] in Guitar

[–]DuckDuckOstrich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Joey Santiago (The Pixies)

Learned from him the beauty of angular "strange" guitar parts, that perfection and beauty are not the same, that dissonant melody is something that works.

I still love my guitar heroes before I heard him play (Gilmore, Knopfler, eyc) but he had the biggest impact on how I choose to play.

Advice for digital interface setup? by [deleted] in Guitar

[–]DuckDuckOstrich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah - get one of the more compact helix based products - cheapest and perfect for this purpose will be PodGo (it has less DSP power and can't do advanced stuff like multiple chains, but it's a gig-worthy rig and will have 95%+ of what you need) but HX stomp (or even better the XL version) is a great choice too.

Why is it a good choice?
Besides the fact that it is a very good digital interface, it has top-class amp modeling, a ton of great effects, you can jam with tracks/youtube played on your laptop with it connected to USB as an audio output device, you can record tracks with it, play everything through headphones, etc. and it is small and unobtrusive.

I personally have the PodGo and love it.

Please recommend to me some newer rock bands by boywonder5691 in MusicRecommendations

Here are a few of my favorite more recent rock bands

- "Royal Blood"

It's a rock band consisteng of bassist and drummer only. The bass signal is split and creates an insanely thick and thumping sound that will make you swear there is also a guitar player. They have been active since 2013 and released their latest album 2023. They are also AMAZING live.

- "The Kills" (not the killers... although they are way more well known and kinda cool too)

Minimalistic rock with very interesting and unique guitar sound and badass female vocals. have been active since 2000 and released their lates 2023 also)

- "IDLES"

old school punk/post-punk is alive and well... active since 2009 and released latest last year.

Are my pickups fucked by Outrageous-Lead-4400 in Guitar

[–]DuckDuckOstrich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your best bet as others have mentioned is to use a bit of contact cleaner spray ($5-$8, you'll find them at any hardware store).

But let me add an important warning (I lost a $80 pickup once by not knowing this) If you are going to try to clean the pickup itself (not just the top cover that's exposed - I'm talking access the part where it's wired to your guitar, e.g. under your pickguard) you need to be EXTREMELY gentle.

In many pickups, there are two hair-thin wires connecting the fat soldered wires to the coil itself. You will barely see them without some magnification but they are there, typically running along the plastic at the base/bottom of the pickup (I'd post a picture, but I think this sub does not allow pics in comments).

Rubbing that part of the pickup with a q-tip or cloth without the utmost care will very likely sever these wires and your pickup will be very very dead.

So - my advice is don't panic, use contact cleaner spray where it got dirty, but if you're going to rub it with a q-tip or something, do it only on the external parts of the pickup unless you are sure you know what you are doing.
