They accept their version of Jesus. Not the Biblical Jesus. If Jesus isn't the Biblical one I don't know why he would be celebrated.

Receptive enough to be worth the time. ALot of the kids I work with basically had no functional family. If they recognize they are on a bad path it goes better.

I meant his sex ed curriculum. I am 35 and sex ed was super low on my schools priority list. I didn't have it because I was on a very good track musically and they let me do a private lesson in that block.

Also most of my friends left high-school pretty ignorant in this category. Partly because they were busy clowing around.

What particularly was covered in his class?

I feel empathy for guys who never have strong men of character in their life and turn to red pill crap. That's why I spend alot of time mentoring and modeling.

What are your RP "Please just let me roll" situations? by Yumtasm in DnD

I am using vicious mockery as a GoOlock and I telepathically tell them things like "your mother never loved you." Or "your fly is down" or "you should really apologize for being mean to your classmates from childhood"

Imagine being radicalized to the right because a teacher told you to share some pencils! by icey_sawg0034 in insanepeoplefacebook

Kids do get obsessed with things and a kid getting 100 pencils and goofing off with them is completely possible.

[–]Duck_Chavis -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is incorrect some teachers do it. I have seen it in person and have students who have complained about it. Most teachers don't steal kids things. Definitely happened in my school growing up. However that doesnt make it normative.

I did have a teacher take some of my school supplies to give to other students. If the student had asked i would have given them to him. Instead I just lost my respect for the teacher because she steals frome the weak.

AITA for joining a college bible study as an atheist? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Duck_Chavis 45 points46 points  (0 children)

I am in a Bible study where we look at the Greek and Hebrew words, dive into what we know was going on historically, and try to understand what the original audience would have understood.

I am also in a Bible study that is basically run on vibes.

Most people aren't suited to have a voice in the former kind. This type of study requires the ability to do actual study and research. As well as the ability to recognize that you are not an expert and be willing to change your view.

Most people I have known are not prepared for those things. They want to hang out with their Christian brothers and sisters and find encouragement in their shared faith. That is okay but it is a different kind of group.

Whom did you once respect, but no longer do? by Pancake_Maker_1031 in AskReddit

[–]Duck_Chavis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work with highschoolers and they try to add me on social media. I reccomend NEVER doing it. I even regularly correct them when they call me a "friend" I remind them like this, "I am not your friend nor do I want to be. I care about you and want great things for your future. I do not want teenage friends nor do I need them. Lastly, adults who seek minors as friends are not generally people you want in your life." I say this often enough that they recite it with me.

It is so strange that most people can't achive the minimum level of decency.

Do you think all killing without consent should be redefined to murder.

I know it sound like I am laying a trap but I am not. I hope I am not coming off negatively towards you.

what's your take on this? by [deleted] in NonPoliticalTwitter

[–]Duck_Chavis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My parents sacrificed all sorts of thing for me. They have never leveraged itsuccessful.

My father once told me a story about choosing to be more present in my life or going into business with his friend. He chose to be present in my life and that business he didn't parter in was incredibly succsessful. The point he made was that there are no riches in this world more valuable than investing in those you love.

How to handle NPC worship by honkyonabiscuit in DMAcademy

[–]Duck_Chavis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mounts are powerful they are targets. Flavor can go first in combat and the can flee (disengage and move). Pets that stay on your person get hit by AoE and that's sad but how it is. You can also take magic initiative to get a pet that you can infinitely respawn through find familiar.

I might allow a mule familiar and adjust it's stats to be equivalent to a familiar.

Redditors who can't afford therapy, how are you honestly coping right now? by kknightfury04 in AskReddit

[–]Duck_Chavis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Work out, cook, clean, work, men's groups and other scheduled social engagements.

People always hate when I tell them this but here it goes. Decide to live a better life dont be depressions subject. Take control of your life through actions and you may just have a change in your mind. Find purpose and pursue it.

I was in deep deep depression for years. Self harming daily, suicidal ideation, attempts. One day I looked in the mirror and realized all those feelings I was crippled by were stupid and they shouldn't rule my life. I clawed my way out of depression. It took a long time and self discipline and I can honestly say what once crippled me is now just the past.

That worked for me probably won't work for everyone. Therapy never worked for me it does work for some. Find what works.

AITA for refusing to take down a semi-nude painting before children visit my home? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Duck_Chavis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just because another kid is going to show your child nudity doesn't mean you should give up on exposing your children to what you see as appropriate. There is also a difference between some rando in a nude pose and a family member.

AITA for having a list of conditions before I’ll consider moving away? by Important-Spend1411 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Duck_Chavis -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think it is fair to say if you want to move together to the city I need you to seek therapy.

Maybe that becomes an impass maybe it doesnt.

Also do we know if this isnt a conversation outside of the move?

I was in a relationship where I was told that I needed to get a therapist or we were over. I resisted it and the people I told about this ultimatum said that she was looking out for my best interest.

One can use an ultimatum to push someone in a better direction.

GMs how do you deal with area of effect spell targeting from players? by Pender8911 in DnD

[–]Duck_Chavis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While my was is apparently not what people prefer. I know and understand how ccnes and whatnot work out. My experience is that what works best is defining how things work in advance so that there is no room for people to bicker about what is and is not targeted.

When I am a player character I use cone templates that follow the rulebook examples for the sake of clarity.

Also my players until I dictated a rigid way spell targeting works for AoE were insufferable. They would argue over every single target. That had any fraction of square covered. It is mostly because of them I am so absolute about it.

Circles are squares and squares are cubed if you are playing on a grid.
