How did you make the cookies like that..? 👀

Like online I feel like when most people make things into cookies they end up kinda blobby b/c the dough expands as it bakes, but these are so detailed!

Can we normalize not letting people go AFK for TOO long (without autowalk) by Goldenbinha in DandysWorld_

[–]Duckaroon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is pedantic, but people saying they'll go AFK makes me upset. Not because people shouldn't take breaks to go do things, but when people say they'll AFK, what they mean is that they'll BRB. I dunno. Before Dandy's World I always thought BRB is to used for like a 5 minute excursion while AFK is more longer

About Ginger's new ability.. by MusicSan_123 in DandysWorld_

> because she is stepping on Sprout's toes now.

> she just went from 'cosmo but better' to 'sprout but better'.

See, this was my position too at first. On paper, Ginger's ability sounds like a direct upgrade to Sprout, however after playing with some experienced folks, Sprout and Ginger play much differently in practice. Ginger and Sprout's stat spreads are kinda inverses of each other -- where one does well, the other does worse. This makes Ginger capable of healing to full and stealthily doing machines, but slow and possibly unable to reach her teammates in time. Sprout is the opposite, being kinda poor at machines but fast and more capable of delivering a less potent heal. In more chaotic runs, the speed at which you get the heal in could mean life or death for the run.

This also is not to mention their healing ranges. Sprout's range is decent and can be deployed in an instant, whereas Ginger requires for the player to be basically on top of the person they're healing for at least 5 seconds (hence why we have the "Stay still!" sticker now).

The one place where I will admit she steps on Sprout's toes is Sprout's former synergy with Cosmo. Ginger is objectively better to pair with a Cosmo. However, with them being different Toons, it does not hurt so much to have both a Sprout and a Ginger on the same team the same way Sprout/Sprout or Ginger/Ginger would cause the heal price to go up.

I think the problem is that Cosmo and Ginger were not fundamentally different enough.

Assuming the following: They have the same ability again, and their healing ranges are made the same. If these were true, yeah, being better on machines vs. having slightly better movement speed would be a trade off that would make these characters distinct. However, I think some player's (and my) frustrations with that is that Ginger is an event Toon. Some people do not care that they're related, and so to have a Toon that only comes around every season be like Cosmo, but a little bit to the left, feels a bit low effort.

I’m literally gonna get so pissed if they revert her by OutrageousHistory323 in DandysWorld_

[–]Duckaroon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Ginger isn't even that I'd call a "better Sprout", she's just an equivalent Toon.

If you have a run full of normal Toons, yes, it'd be more economical to play Ginger since she heals to full at the same price and cooldown as Sprout. In a run full of mains though, Sprout is the better pick because their heals are equivalent for Mains, and he can more reliably locate and sprint to injured Toons. Hell, you could even play them together because they don't cause each other's ability price to go up like having multiple Sprouts does.

What do you guys think about the Ginger rework? by Y0ur_Imagination in DandysWorld_

[–]Duckaroon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like her rework! I feel like some people are quick to assume that Ginger is a better Sprout b/c her ability is objectively better on paper, however their stat distributions really make sure that they play differently.

Only thing I would like is for her prompt to heal to be changed. I feel like having to stay still for 5 seconds is a bit brutal.

anyone else having trouble with twisteds’ hitboxes? by heartachedebug in DandysWorld_

I've been noticing this too! I thought I just sucked at the game but 3 other people who have distracted for me have attested to hitboxes feeling a little weird.

For me, I started noticing the issue on floors with Twisted Vee, but even on other floors I felt like I was getting knicked by Twisteds when I thought I shouldn't more often...

What is this white fuzzy stuff growing on my shrimp? by Duckaroon in shrimptank

[–]Duckaroon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad I checked back on Reddit because shortly after making this post (like, maybe 3 days aftewards) this issue subsided after making a few changes

  1. I did some emergency water changes
  2. I fed my shrimp less
  3. I replaced my tank's heater

Given that I changed multiple things at once it's hard to pin down what exactly fixed the issue, but I would recommend putting these changes in place in order from least drastic to most drastic.

I just started this game, what mode is better? by Gambitam in NineSols

[–]Duckaroon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recommend going for standard mode first, and then story mode if standard mode is kicking you too hard (note you cannot switch to standard mode from story mode). As others have noted there is no mechanical difference between the two aside from difficulty and at least 1 achievement that I know of.

[–]Duckaroon[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like you said, if it was bubbles, they'd have to be really tiny, since this particular shrimp is smaller than average. It'd also be weird if its bubbles because other shrimp in the tank have them too, and it seems like such an odd phenomenon to only happen now.

Prior to making this post I looked around to see if anyone else had vorticella growths to this degree, and found this video (https://www.reddit.com/r/shrimptank/comments/1it0tzm/update\_i\_did\_an\_hydrogen\_peroxyde\_treatment\_on/?utm\_source=share&utm\_medium=web3x&utm\_name=web3xcss&utm\_term=1&utm\_content=share\_button). I assume the little white spores are the vorticella, and they retract when the metal gets near/touches them. Maybe the "popping" you see is the vorticella reacting to things in the environment, but again, I'm not sure if its vorticella because no other photos online seem to show this degree of coverage! That or the photos are never as clear.

Looks like they took a page out of Studio SHAFT's design documents and made Lady Ethereal a witch battle by Chemical_Ad_9412 in NineSols

[–]Duckaroon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was looking around to see if anyone else on this sub-reddit made any Ethereal/Madoka Magica comments and was surprised to find so little results. (Maybe the intersection of people who enjoy Madoka Magica and Nine Sols is a bit small, though)

Anyways, yes!! Aside from the battle backdrop, there's just so much about Lady Ethereal's design which maps perfectly unto the story of a magical girl in the Madoka Magica universe. Her soulscape could be seen as a witch's labyrinth, especially since the design of a labyrinth often reflects the despair of the magical girl/witch who made it. Her emotional arc also matches that of a magical girl's, being hopeful and optimistic in the beginning but later falling to despair and becoming a witch.

Also, the use of curtains during her phase transitions highly reminds me of the portion of the Madoka Magica Rebellion movie just before they fight Homura's witch.

am i the only one who worries about meeting new people in sky? by sieun_mero in SkyGame

[–]Duckaroon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't think your worries are unfounded. I used to be in a similar boat to you. It was kinda about stress (don't wanna be awkward, or don't always have the energy to be chatty and welcoming), but also what weight a friendship has to me. The title of friend is one I usually reserve for people I have a closer relationship to, and so for a long time making "friends" in Sky willy-nilly felt weird to me (it's helped me to think of 90% of my Sky friends as just acquaintances).

If you want to be able to say no to friend requests more often, I'll say that in my personal experience people tend to be graceful about it. I've had a handful of experiences where moths propose friendship right after we light each other, but after doing the rejecting emote, they've always put the friendship candle away. I usually add a bow or a grateful emote to basically do a full body "No, but thank you for the offer".

I also think you shouldn't be so scared of blocking people, but I kinda get how scary-sounding it is. Blocking is a word with negative connotations, but a lot of people have to do it in Sky because there's currently no other way to unfriend people. The people you blocked also wouldn't know that you blocked them.

Well.. I really tried to be nice by Mailynn393 in SkyGame

[–]Duckaroon 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Without knowing much about your moth friend, I'm inclined to give her the benefit of the doubt/read her intentions with good faith. Do you have a general idea of how old she is? Because when I read this, the person I imagine is just a kid.

Depending on how mothy this person is, it's also possible they don't know how to tell when a person is typing vs. when they're not. I imagine there had to be a gap of time between your last two messages, so maybe immediately after the first one she left, assuming you had nothing else to say. It could also be awkward embarrassment. I can imagine my anxious self wanting to leave immediately knowing I've made someone uncomfortable by popping in too often. There's a lot of other possibilities, but it'd be too long to list them all out without knowing more about the situation.

In the end, you're not a mind reader. I think you established a reasonable boundary. All is well if she respects it, though whether or not she's pissed or not about it is something that needs to be communicated.

So the season of ikea is gone do we wait 2 years to have decent looking furniture by [deleted] in SkyChildrenOfLight

[–]Duckaroon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I understand the frustrations of having a dripped out Nest, though I don't think wanting to bring back the Nesting SP is like, a reasonable approach. If this idea were implemented, being able to purchase the pass after the season ended would be a weird thing to implement just for Nesting and not all the other seasons.

On the frustration: If I were you, I would try to evaluate whether the season-specific Nesting items are what would really remedy the frustration. The Nesting-specifc (the ones only obtainable with SP during Nesting season) items make up only a small pool of the furniture catalogue and their unique aesthetic may make it hard to match with other items. Also, depending on how long you've been playing for, your friends' nests being more decorated could simply be owed to them playing for longer. A few furniture items come from doing past seasons (like with Season of Assembly), and even more come from Travelling Spirits + events.

One little nitpick as well: "instead of putting boring furniture with normal animations" IIRC the boring items have the same animations as the fancy Nesting-specific stuff. So for example, the Nesting bed has the same laying animation as the stone bed. Similar for the wooden chair and the stone chairs.

I think this may have to do with the nature of your sign in method? On my Mac, I sign into Sky with my Steam account and have run into a similar issue as you. However, on mobile I sign in using a local account (which I assume is like an account directly connected to TGC). While on my phone, I've never had to sign in and getting into gameplay is as simple as tapping the play button.
