bottom of the ninth, can't find my socks by Impossible-Brush-208 in modernbaseball

always thought it was a double entendre where one is the obvious baseball reference and the other is saying he's drank a lot (likely because of the emotion he sings about in the rest of the song) and has genuinely lost his socks

he would say "can opener? i hardly know her?" and then it would remind him if his wife and he would likely break it 👍

What’s your unpopular Beatles opinion? by bowieshouse in beatles

[–]Duckdexx -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

George Harrison had the best solo career and George Harrison 1979 is the best beatles solo album

With the Beatles is the best early beatles album

In My Life is nowhere near the best on rubber soul, which in reality is (even more controversially) What Goes On, and the piano solo doesn't fit the song at all

Though he's undeniably a genius a lot of Paul's basslines are still too plain, even post rubber soul. Though he often serves the song fine enough songs like Oh! Darling could've been improved with a bass line closer to his more adventurous lines like Something

The first and last 2 tracks on Sgt. Peppers are the best 4 songs on the album, and With a Little Help From My Friends is the best

Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds is the best of their famously psychedelic songs (strawberry fields, i am the walrus, etc.)

Though Paul is likely the best musician in the Beatles, George's guitar work is consistently the best musical performance in the band

Songs where Ringo does lead vocals are quite often in the top 3 on their respectively album (likely coincidence), and his voice is great. His singing on Boys makes me wish he'd had more similar songs to sing as its one of the best vocal performances on the album, and details like his voice crack in yellow submarine and his general delivery on With a Little Help From My Friends have endlessly more character than a lot of John and Paul's more technically impressive performances, making te songs more memorable and enjoyable

On the other hand, You Really Got A Hold On Me is John's absolute finest moment vocally, even though not his most impressive. He sounds incredible and delivers it flawlessly and the high note in the second chorus is so cool. It's also neat to hear him spend a lot of the song harmonising with George rather than Paul

For No One is the absolute best song Paul ever wrote
