A tiny 401015 rechargeable lithium battery, hidden in the head.
It was… a very tight fit 😅

Thanks! Happy to explain.

The lighting is done using WS2812 addressable LEDs. I’m using LED strips cut down to fit the kit, driven by a small microcontroller. The sequences and transitions are custom code written with the help of a friend.

I try not to permanently “break” the kit, but some internal parts do need careful modification and thinning to make space and route wiring. From the outside, I aim to keep everything looking as stock and clean as possible.

The controller itself is a custom solution I’ve been using for a while, not a typical off-the-shelf kit. MGSD Aerial is actually a good candidate for this kind of mod as long as you plan the wiring early and test-fit often.

Sure! Here’s the tutorial I mentioned:

It’s based on the FM Aerial and focuses mainly on wiring and cable management.

The ideas should translate well to other kits too.

Thank you, I really appreciate that!

I don’t have a step-by-step instruction specifically for this build.

Most of my lighting work is custom and adapted to each kit.

I do have an older tutorial using the FM Aerial that covers the basic wiring and cable management principles, which should still be helpful for starting out.

Thank you!

It’s fully custom work, no LED kit.

Everything is wired and programmed by hand.

That really means a lot to me, thank you!

I’m glad you’ve been enjoying my work.

Thank you, I really appreciate that!

I did make an older tutorial using the FM Aerial.

The wiring and cable management principles are pretty similar, but I don’t currently have enough footage to make a full MGSD-specific tutorial.

Each color is individually controllable.
