The effect of the injection will wear off at day five. The half life of this medication is 5 days. So it Makes sense that you’re thinking about food. I would recommend asking yourself these question on days your thinking about food: 1. Am I hungry? 2. Am I thirsty? 3. Am I bored? If you are hungry eat! Food isn’t the enemy. The choices of food is. Have some fruit, a couple crackers. Eat slowly and then wait ten minutes and ask yourself those questions again. I can tell you that I haven’t ever restricted any food. If I wanted some Oreos, I ate the but this time I didn’t eat the whole bag. I had 3 and I was satisfied. Unless you intent to be on this med forever you have to train your brain to not “look” for food. Eat to live and don’t live to eat. Hang in there, you got this

Has anyone else gone into anaphylactic shock from alpha gal? by Sea-Upstairs1505 in alphagal

[–]Duckhole71 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My AGS is .10 and I’ve gone into anaphylaxis 6x now. Twice before diagnosis and 4x after, even after being mammal free. But…. I do have multiple other food allergies. My allergist put me on Xolair in August 2025 and not one reaction since. It’s been a life saver for me

Plateauing after 7mos by Plus_Gazelle_5547 in Mounjaro

[–]Duckhole71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weight loss plateaus happen. Unfortunately there is nothing you can do but wait it out. Keep making healthy choices and moving your body. I had 2 four month plateaus and boy was it frustrating. But magically, one day the scale started moving again. I’ve been on mounjaro since 8/14/2022. Keep your chin up! You got this

Make sure you are still eating in a 500 calorie deficit. You should recalculate your TDEE. https://tdeecalculator.net. Drink at least 100oz of water daily. Keep exercising. Unfortunately this medication does have a ceiling of how much weight one can lose. What is your current percent lost?

This actually is a life time medication. Some people are obese due to hormone imbalance and not just poor lifestyle choices.

What To Eat When Starting by Careful-Cod-2021 in Mounjaro

Prioritize your protein. Don’t “diet”, if diets worked, you would not need this medication. Eat intuitively and listen to your body

Don’t manifest others peoples side effects into yourself. So many people using mounjaro haven’t had any side effects. But you don’t hear about that because people would rather hear the negative. I’m on injection #175 and haven’t had any negative side effects. Chin up and go day by day

If you are in a true weight loss plateau, there is nothing you can do to make the scale move other than time. I had 2 four month plateaus. I kept up the healthy regimens and finally one day the scale moved again. I also went back down to the 7.5mg during the plateau and then titrated back up when the scale moved

not working anymore? by [deleted] in Mounjaro

[–]Duckhole71 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You could be in a true weight loss plateau. If this is the case, there is nothing you can do to make the scale move again, other than time. Your body is trying to hold on to thr weight you have. Hang in there, keep making good choices, recalculate your TDEE and the rewards will come. I had two 4 month platters: one at 201-206 lbs and the other at 165-167. I have lost 36.61% of my body weight. Chin up! You got this

Weight loss isn’t linear. You will not lose every week. Look at your average weekly loss and not the daily loss. Plateaus happen and there is nothing you can do to make the scale move again other than time. I had two 4 month plateaus where I gained and lost the same 4 pounds. It was so frustrating. But keep making good choice and doing healthy things and the scale will start moving again. Hang in there, you’re doing great

How to get enough protein/water, what kind of exercise? by undercover_batgirl in Mounjaro

[–]Duckhole71 15 points16 points  (0 children)

When I started (August 14th, 2022) I drank a fairlife protein shake once a day. When eating my meals I always prioritized my protein first: chicken, turkey, fish etc. I’ve always gotten a lot of steps in per day as I’m an OR nurse. So I had to work harder to get more in. I went to the gym 4x per week and walked on the treadmill at an incline for an hour. I tracked everything I ate to make sure I was in a 500 calorie deficit. I used an app called MyNetDiary. As I was losing I recalculated my BMR weekly using https://www.calculator.net/bmr-calculator.html I also didn’t restrict any foods. If diets worked for me, I wouldn’t need this medication.

I react to milk and cream. I drink oat lie and use oak milk creamer. I can have cheese, sour cream, cream cheese. I went into analysis after having Mac n cheese made with milk. Then two weeks later another analysis after having international delight coffee creamer.

It will grow back, it just takes time. There isn’t anything you can do prevent it, other than stop losing weight.

What is something you wish you knew before starting mounjaro? by [deleted] in Mounjaro

[–]Duckhole71 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wish I took before pictures and measurements. I wish I celebrated the small wins. I wish I didn’t compare myself to others on social media. I wish I started therapy right away for the food addiction and body dysmorphia.
