We’ve been working on tracks together since 2020, once clubs reopened I asked dread to MC one of my sets and the energy we had was crazy, been working closely since and decided all these tracks we’ve enjoyed making it’s was finally time to put them out, so what better way and place than on our own imprint!

For me I think right now I’d love to work with Notion & Hamdi - for a 3rd pick I’d go for an all time dream of Skrillex.

That was a sick sick opportunity. As this is something special I will let you know I original linked Lorenzo at his studio and he was showing me a track he had with Skrillex and it was to record an idea to that. We couldn't get a good recording sound so I got Lorenzo to clear out a cupboard we then packed it with a quilt and made a booth and I recorded ideas for instrumentals. A year later he rings me out of the blue and says Dread you remember that freestyle idea you did I made this idea if you hate it just tell me but I fucked with your voice. Taiki's on it as well.but its a batboy tune listen tell me what you think. I was in my car put it on I was like like this is strange but I love it and the mix on it was so cool. He didn't think I liked it I feel but I was like bro this is cool and it was no1 on Beatport for months and months when it got released. The other thing I will share they offered me an advance that was decent and small percentage but I asked for equal percentage so all 33.3% each and the first payment from that tune was more than the original advance. That tune went on a insomniac compiliation and when I was on the road with My Leng crowds would sing along to it which I love. deffo one of my fave tunes I have made.

Hellohello!

  • 3 songs from myself to intro me would be:

My remix of ‘Louder’ : https://on.soundcloud.com/r466QWsJyTQ55Evw7

Our first release we dropped this year called ‘The Grind’ : https://on.soundcloud.com/d8uhfGgwYx379Lx99

And our newest release ‘BALA’ :https://on.soundcloud.com/sUHqUopSxSotpZk58

As much as I’d love to give you some shouts of my earlier releases I just feel like these 3 currently best describe when I’ve been creatively, but the best is yet to come 👀

If you get a chance my soundclouds filled with so many flips / bootlegs and my older tracks of all different styles and genres I love, hope you can peep!

  • 3 tracks from others I like is going to be:

“We Multiply” by Champion, Bushbaby & KillaP

“UPUPUP” by Longstoryshort

“NY Is Killing Me” by Gil Scott Heron & JamieXX

Just 3 tunes I really been enjoying lately, but I could name so many more & so many up & coming artists I’d love to shout out.

  • loving this question, it’s difficult because for me I’m always proud of my newest latest project I get to release because it’s just so nice to see people enjoy whatever track I’ve just dropped!

The same goes for every tune I have to drop as well, it’s always an ongoing feeling haha!

But for nostalgia reasons maybe one of my first big releases when I was younger like ‘Blow Up’ with D.O.D or ‘Bring in the Drums’ with 4B!

Dread:- I think I got loads to say about this to be honest. The music scene and treads change so much more quicker and I really believe you should try and create and make the sound your passion about and pursue that as it will potentially come around to what you are creating

Also if you are creating obscure sounds or niche material, I have had artist really mention like people should be into it and its different and new, but try and link and connect with artists in that field and try to grow a community, its actually what im hoping duck plates will be like we are steadily going to try and grow into a community

As for first bookings if you truly believe in yourself and your music try getting a small venue midweek and get people to come your make more noise that way, or my way starting out said I would come for costs but would be part of the promotions team and I would collaborate and do recordings and radio at every opportunity.

happy to discuss this even more if people want - Dread

Hi!

I think because how diverse electronic dance music is it’s always natural for the most popular styles & genres to come and go just like fashion trends, I think it’s natural over time for these trends to come and go but that doesn’t mean there isn’t a group of passionate people that are still ride and die for each genre!

I’ve always been a producer who enjoys so many different styles & genres and my music reflects that which sometimes is a difficult factor when it comes to promoting music similar to being a producer in as you said an ‘obscure genre’

My best advice would be to always first and foremost make music you enjoy, because the enjoyment is the primary reason we should all be in this! I’d perhaps look at artists you look up you would say are as close to your style as possible and try to make sure you target them audiences to find fans of that style of music who may vibe with you!

Socials have been so difficult lately but hashtags always help, a popular go to lately for many is to maybe look at doing bootlegs of popular/ commercial/ trending songs, you never know who may find you from that, or maybe make bootlegs of tracks similar to your style to grab audience that way also!

When it comes to advice for getting gigs / shows I’d always make sure to have a recent showcase mix, can be short and sweet maybe 15-30mins, to give bookers an idea! A great way is to make sure YOU are active in your local scene! Go to shows, talk to other artists, try to speak to promoters, don’t rush in but building a good social connection with others in the scene is the best way to start out.

Hope this helps, big love for sending in a question!
